Althouse at Stanford.

Check it out.

Any San Francisco readers out there? Email me. I might be able to stage a meetup on Saturday or Sunday, but I'd need a trustworthy local to help me out.

"No, no really. Come down here. Watch your step...don't trip over that pit in the floor. That sound? Oh, its nothing, just the wind.

Here, sit here. I know its dark. That adds to the surprise! Here, just drink this..."

Milton Friedman's son, who has the same name as me, is at this event too. Interesting.

(And no, I'm not related to either Milton or David.) But I used to have a blog. And some people confused me with him because I blogged a lot about economic issues from a (somewhat) libertarian perspective.

And, no, I see no need to link to my old blog....

I'm a couple of hours away but I can arrange to be in the area. I don't know it well enough to make any suggestions about where to meet.

Randal, thanks. You are definitely a trusted regular here. I can probably figure out a place but I want to be sure I have some people I feel secure with. I'll probably be staying somewhere very central in SF.

Anyone who'd come to an SF thing on Saturday/Sunday, please email me so I can name a time and place. Email address is in the sidebar.

Best of luck, though.

althouse... san francisco is the perfect city for you... free wireless access--or, wifi, as you like to say--at most cafes and plenty of photo ops... you'll most likely find a cafe to your liking in the mission ... perhaps philz at 24th/folsom - http://philzcoffee.com/locations.html or cafe la boheme, also on 24th.. . http://www.yelp.com/biz/cafe-la-boheme-san-francisco or perhaps even the revolution cafe over on 22nd - http://www.myspace.com/revcafe2006 i might recommend java beach, out in my neighborhood, but it will most likely be entirely overcrowded on a saturday or sunday afternoon - http://www.javabeachcafe.com/ ... in any case, enjoy your trip to our dirty little city and please, don't feed the beggars

I'm up for Palo Alto...free parking, CalTrain connection, low street person to productive citizen ratio.

It bears noting that there are no scheduled BlogHer sponsored race car events in the entire Bay Area for that time period.

Nice that the Earth is getting its shaking done before your arrival.

You should all meet for lunch at the Yank Sing in Rincon Center and feast on dim sum. The best dim sum in town in my opinion. Make reservations!!!

My mouth is watering as I even think about it. If it wasn't a 5 hour drive and I wasn't already planning to visit my family in SF in a few weeks I would be there with bells on.

Stage a meetup

Like it's all play-acting? False? Not really real off-blog Althouse? And couldn't you find a real home to be a real hostess?
