What the bloggers said.

Joe Gandelman has a nice roundup of what the bloggers said last night.

I like what David Brooks says about this in his column this morning:

Huckabee understands much better than Mitt Romney that we have a crisis of authority in this country. People have lost faith in their leaders’ ability to respond to problems. While Romney embodies the leadership class, Huckabee went after it. He criticized Wall Street and K Street. Most importantly, he sensed that conservatives do not believe their own movement is well led. He took on Rush Limbaugh, the Club for Growth and even President Bush. The old guard threw everything they had at him, and their diminished power is now exposed.

and

A conservatism that recognizes stable families as the foundation of economic growth is not hard to imagine. A conservatism that loves capitalism but distrusts capitalists is not hard to imagine either. Adam Smith felt this way. A conservatism that pays attention to people making less than $50,000 a year is the only conservatism worth defending.

B - I think that you quoted perfectly appropriate and cogent observations. Those of us who remember and worked in the 1968 campaign felt a little bit of hope at the events of last night and after reading "what the bloggers said", I think that historical context was left out of their writing.

The blogs hint at the old-guard, new-wave thinking and attitude but it is with precedent. New Hampshire will demonstrate the ruthlessness of the old-guard facing the uprising.

I don't know if it's "nice" exactly. It's kind of bossy. You MUST read THIS from THE BEGINNING.

Does it strike anyone else that a lot is being made out of Iowa? Iowa that picked two of the last five non-incumbent races (Carter and W)? And that's coincidental, I think: They picked the most Christiany candidates.
