I'm happy to report that I got a job and I start on Monday. This isn't a faded dream, but rather a dream finally realized. I'll be assistant editor at a publication (which some of you have probably read), up in LA. I have a commute driving in from Orange County, but it's all worth it. Today, I am celebrating by a buying a new car.

Things are great and I hope everyone else has a great holiday as well. Love, ZPS

The people in the photo look too dumb to have dreams.

Great news & good luck with that.

It is amazing how the human spirit can be uplifted by the promise of steady work. That is easy to forget when you have a secure job.

Buy more stuff Zack, the economy and Obama will thank you for it.

Good for you, Zach. Make sure you pay your Social Security taxes. I get my first check the second Wednesday of January.

There's nothing you can hold for very long, and when you hear that song come crying like the wind, it seems like all this life was just a dream.

If you look closely, you'll find out what Rahm Emanuel and Jerry Garcia have in common. Perhaps there's hope after all.

Congratulations on the new job! Now you can buy althouse a Christmas present. Sorry about the commute though. Commuting is something I'll do just about anything to avoid.

That cookie (Peanut butter?) looks good, but if they served it to you in pieces like that, I suggest you return it for one entirely whole cookie. There will be crumbs left on the plate after all the breakage. Waste! Not all of the delectable cookie morsels will enter your body.

I also will be buying a MacBook Air in the coming weeks, and some new clothes. I will single handedly save the economy by wasting money on luxury items.

Congratulations, Zachary!

A Jets Jacket?..In Here?!

Never wear kelly green to the brown cafe:
A declaration of unhipness.
Stick to brown or black or grey
To mark your total withitness.

Congratulations, my juicy little filet mignon! Now you can drive over here to Brooklyn and we can finally consummate our relationship and turn all that hatred into love.

"I also will be buying a MacBook Air in the coming weeks, and some new clothes. I will single handedly save the economy by wasting money on luxury items."

I bought a bottle of The Macallan 30, a bottle of Glenfiddich 30 and an espresso machine. Rather than let the failing economy bankrupt me, I'm going to do it myself.

"At the Sepia Café..."

...Kinky Friedman says "Come into the Light".

I see the ghost of Stonewall Jackson looking on.

The Sepia Cafe is for us brown nosing old-timers!

We used to use something called sepia mylar to draw on b4 the advent of Cad and large scale plotting.

Those were the days when the rubber meet the mylar.

I like to break giant-sized cookies into pieces.

Is there a preferred Althousian pie for Turkey Day? Straight up Pumpkin? Mincemeat? Quince? Apple?

Hey Zach don't forget Lee Lee's Valise in your shopping spree. Our online service is perfect for all those presents. I bet Lady Bunny needs a new Tadashi or something.

I thought all soc sec checks were issued on the 3rd of every month?

Ann Althouse said...

It does kind of look like Stonewall Jackson....

As for pie... certainly not mincemeat. We're doing vegetarian this year. Anyway, it's always pumpkin if there is to be pie.

AJ--

They told me the 2nd Wednesday of every month. Maybe because my birthday was on the 10th of this month. Notice the 2 month delay.

Do all Madison cafes look the same?

Each time you post a photo, I think "Hey, that's the one my kids took me to when I visited in September."

Allen:

Perhaps they got efficient and now process thruout the month based on day of birth [like you said].

Thanks

I dreamt of a Mexican style shrimp cocktail, except this dream remained quite vivid and refused to fade. I awoke quite hungry with a lingering dream that insisted on expression. Therefore, I made it and then ate it, and that settled that.

Trooper York said...

Jeeez I thought a Mexican shrimp cocktail is the porno tape that Chelsea Handler made with Chuey that got him the gig on the talk show.

I was afraid to click on the photo.

Not safe for work.

Darcy said...

Oh, Chip Ahoy...that looks scrumptious! Yum, yum...YUM.

Ron,

Squirrel pie, of course!

ricpic said...

Ate the whole shrimp watchamicallit without those tortilla chips and I'm still hungry!

I just started getting my social security check this year. My birthday is on the 23rd and I get mine on the fourth Wednesday. Yes, they space them throughout the month.

Keep up the good work youngsters! Not that I don't still work. I have my own business and work harder than ever.

Squirrel pie, of course!

Thanks everyone. I ended up buying a used Honda Accord this afternoon. It's a few years old but it "drives like new"! You can't not have a car in Southern California, FYI.
