Ready for Daylight Saving Time?

I am! I'd been getting up as early as 3 lately. 3 is now 4. 4 is excessively pre-dawn, but not quite the same as getting up in the middle of the night, which is 3. And 5 has become 6, which is when I got up this morning and seemingly the perfect time to get up in the morning, especially when, as now, it's pre-dawn.

Written less strangely early in the morning than I thought when I first glanced at my iPhone when I woke up.

Remember to reset that one clock you still have that doesn't automatically reset. For me, it's that clock on the oven. (Do new ovens reset? Ours is from 1991.)

I woke up early enough to watch a movie! So I did...Jeez...

We need a 'Palin at CPAC' post just for the nostalgia of 200+ comments here...comment harvesting as it were, and SP is a hearty perennial...

I haven't used an alarm clock in many years and I wake up after about 5 hours. Waking at 6:30 am is really late.

Ann, do you have an iPhone clock app you like? I keep my Droid X for that reason but never found an iPhone app that I liked.

I like the suggestion that in the spring, clocks should be set ahead at 4pm on a Friday.

I've been looking forward to this for weeks for exactly this reason. I seem to wake up 15 minutes earlier each day, and then have to correct somehow.

Stayed in bed until 5 this morning, the latest in months.

New ovens want their minimum temperatures raised.

New ovens have diamonds in their grills.

New ovens only heat when the sun is shining.

The cat never jumped on the new oven the first time.

Me, too. I wonder why that is?

Wow, serious early risers here. I recently changed my work hours to 7 to 3 so I wouldn't be sitting around for hours in the morning waiting for 8:30 (but mostly because the babysitter had to quit, so now I save $150 a week by picking my daughter up from school myself).

Wouldn't you know it, this morning I slept in until 7 (8 new time). The latest i've slept in months. I'm actually going to have to set the alarm this week.

In my own home and in my own car, I stay on Daylight Savings Time all year round.

I never set my clocks back one hour in November. They're always on DST.

I do that because I prefer the extra hour of daylight in the winter. Watching the sun set at 4:15 PM in December--before the workday ends for most of us--is too depressing.

I will enjoy the later light in the day. And since it's dark in the morning later, maybe the dog will sleep in.

Win win!

Definite marker in my life when 4AM switched from being 'really late' to 'really early'

My wife loves clocks as decoration, so we've got a whole lot more than just one that needs changing. Let's see...before bed last night, I changed 12 clocks (plus the oven & microwave clocks). I'm sure there are a few upstairs that need changing as well.

We don't do that in Arizona.

I never change the bird clock, which is what tells the dog what hour it is.

Our oven is from 1980. It hasn't learned to reset itself yet either.

What a surprise it would be to wake up and find that one old clock had learned to set itself for daylight savings.

Here it's two microwaves, the oven, my bedside clock, my pocket watch, and another small clock that didn't need resetting, because I hadn't turned it back in November. Everything else in the house auto-adjusts.

I'm with the "DST all year" contingent. Winter in this latitude is grim enough without the sun setting at 4:30 p.m. And we get up early enough that it's still dark when my husband leaves for work.

You only have one clock you have to reset? I find that amazing. Only my cell phone resets itself. I have to manually reset all the clocks in our house, my alarm clocks, the little clock in the family room, the Grandfather clock, the microwave clock- ours is from the 90's, and my thermostat- for me the hardest of all to reset so I didn't do it in the fall. It should be right again now. :)

I woke up naturally at 6AM today.
I am so ready for longer days!

According to my oven, Althouse, it's always twelve o'clock.

Try eating less and earlier. No late night snacking.Especially liquids. You'll sleep through the night.

I wish daylight savings time were all year. I need the extra daylight hour around 5-6pm and am thankful for a darker morning.

From a comment seen at Reddit: "I think daylight savings time is great! Last night I had sex for one hour and thirty seconds!"

I don't have any clocks that reset, just my phone and computers. Do they make analog clocks that adjust automatically?

I had to reset three wall clocks, one alarm clock, three kitchen devices and two watches.

New oven, microwave, thermostat, four clock radios and one old school battery operated clock all had to be manually changed. Oh, and the car. A pain, but looking forward to he extra evening sunlight.

I'm fine with the app that comes with the iPhone.

I guess I don't care much about apps.

I sleep through the night. I'm just done by 3 or 4 sometimes.

I go to bed early!

Getting up at 3? I assume you're in bed by 8? Or are you one of those uber-people that only need 2 hours of sleep per night?

Alex said...

All the computer/device clocks auto-set to the new time. But I've got to manually change:

- Bose audio box
- Wall clock
- Oven clock
- Microwave clock
- alarm clock
- car clock

Damn it's tough living in this technological age.

Ann doesn't care about apps. You are so not part of the iGeneration that downloads an average of 1 billion apps per day.

I have this clock in my office:

http://chicagolighthouse.org/programs-and-services/wall-clocks/24-hour-series

The 12" one on top. It throws people off because they glance at it, note the position of the arms, and don't notice the dial. I've gotten a kick out of those reactions for years.
