"I offer you this missive..."

"... not only because it links to a tempting NYT article on kindergarten classroom decor... but because the article — nay, the very circumstances themselves! — allude, perhaps unconsciously, to the title — and by no means not the substance! — of a pardonably obscure, and deliberately hilarious, Edgar Allan Poe satire on permissiveness."

... writes my ex-husband RLC, linking to "Rethinking the Colorful Kindergarten Classroom" and to Edgar Allan Poe's "The System of Dr. Tarr and Prof. Fether."

Hi, Ann!

Totally agree with you about men's fashions and the men -> boys devolution, by the way.

Yes, in fact, we were a riot.

Did he talk like this, too? I couldn't have put up with it, either.

It's a clue to the connection to the Poe. It's parody. But you've got to do the reading to get it.

Ok professor. I've been reading and rereading Edgar Allan Poe since I was very young. I've read Tarr and Fether, I've read it repeatedly, & I read it now for you again in case I had forgotten anything.

I even condescended to read your New York Times link, and you know I never like to read your links. I believe I understood every word.

So, long story short, what the fuck is your point? Really, what the fuck is your fucking point? Huh huh, there was a similarly named person? Thanks, Beavis! But other than that, and the fact that hemlines go up hemlines go down, walls get decorated walls get bare, I mean WTF are you driving at?
