If Biden enters the race, Hillary is ready to try to crush him.

"According to the source, the [oppo] research has turned up material on Biden’s ties to Wall Street; his reluctance to support the raid that killed Osma bin Laden; and his role in the Anita Hill saga as chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee."

Is that supposed to scare him off?

Desparate and sad.

If he can be scared off by that he should definitely not be President.

Hillary just looking at him will probably turn him to stone. Isn;t that what the Gorgon did ?

There are now two books about her in the White House. They agree on what a monster she is.

When they attempt to reconcile after a bitter contest, you can bet Joe will thoroughly frisk Hill-bot for her reset button.

So Hillary's oppo research is doing the job the media should have done long ago.
Biden is a fool who has been wrong on every major foreign policy issue he has had to face. He was against the Gulf War in '91, for the Iraq War in 2002, against the surge in 2007. When he was a senator, his major donors were the trial lawyers (the mesothelioma people!). On top of that he is a gaffe machine and a known liar. Despite his "hard knocks" Scranton story, from age 11 he lived a middle-class lifestyle in Delaware. Biden attended a prep school. In law school, he failed a course because he plagiarized five out of fifteen pages. He says that he didn't know the proper rules for citation. Really? you can make direct quotes 30% of your paper if you attribute properly? Jesus. It wasn't just Kinnock's speech he plagiarized on the senate floor, either. There were other incidents.
Five minutes with Google and you can come up with more info on Biden than all the reporters at all the major news networks working together.

Hey, Hillary is so dirty she can't afford to start playing a political game of "Who's got the clean underwear?"

And with Biden's family history, stuff like this isn't going to make him freak out. One thing about real, searing problems - they do immunize you somewhat from the snowflake irritations of life.

Nor is this a real attack on Biden. If you wanted to attack Biden, you'd do it on personality flaws, like his tendency to tell whoppers. He's got kind of a Brian Williams problem with that. I still remember his IQ thing - he has some sort of inferiority complex that kind of resonates with Trump's thin skin. In a way, they have similar personalities. That is not a recommendation for Biden.

Biden's vulnerabilities are real. I remember the very odd impression he made in Alito's SC hearing. He had a bit of an Obama thing going there. He talked so much about himself he rarely asked a question!

In the 1988 campaign Biden had difficulties:
http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/history_lesson/2008/08/the_write_stuff.html

Since he has had difficulties, so it is not over. Every once in a while he starts talking nonsense:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/fact-checker/wp/2015/02/19/bidens-strange-claim-of-knowing-an-awful-lot-of-somali-cab-drivers-in-delaware/

That was this year. And does anyone else remember Biden on shotgun etiquette? That was truly scary advice!!

My favorite was "oiled and lubricated", which still makes me laugh for minutes at a time, imagining the expressions on the faces:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2118603/Joe-Biden-makes-second-gaffe-days-inappropriate-joke-Irish.html

Funny as that was, it was a "crazy uncle" moment.

Biden has good political instincts, which Hillary does not have. But he's vulnerable. Very vulnerable. I think fears over Hillary have everyone forgetting that.

How great would it be to see Biden run clips of Hillary lying. And her reciprocating with clips of Joes buffoonery. Supply fairly endless. Maybe they start small, like this little bitty rumor, then escalate, each team quickly launching counter attacks. Which would be the first to Photoshop and edit pictures, manipulate video? Always with a compliant fall guy to take the hit, while the candidate somberly accepts the usual "full responsibility".

Hagar said...

With Biden's record, I would not be too surprised if it comes to light he made up that story about his son telling him to run.

The Godfather said...

My guess is that Democrats would be more foregiving of Biden's faults than of Hillary!'s. Biden can play the role of the good, somewhat dim fellow. Hillary! is either the savior of the planet, or an evil fraud. And savior isn't selling.

For Republicans and independents it's hard to see how a prospective Biden presidency could be anything other than a third Obama term. That's going to be a hard product to sell -- not impossible, but hard. Who the Republican nominee will be is looking more and more crucial.

Bluff. She's not gonna crush Biden. Obama has $200 million in donors on the sidelines, which both Biden and Hillary want and need. She will fight hard, but within whatever boundaries Obama sets. If he goes all in for Biden, she's toast anyway.

So he may very well be Obama's choice for lack of anyone better.

Their only salvation is that their voters are stupid and don't mind a little corruption as long as the government cheese keeps flowing to them.

I followed chickelit's link and looked at the Hillary nutcracker on Amazon. Several hours later, I went to Amazon to look for something totally unrelated and apolitical (blank papyrus for school projects, if you're wondering) and what happens? 'Your Recently Viewed Items and Featured Recommendations' includes, under the second category, (1-2) Obama toilet paper (single roll and 3-pack), (3) Hillary toilet paper, (4) a little clock that counts down days, hours, minutes, and seconds until Obama leaves office, and (5) a Bill Clinton corkscrew - "only 10 left in stock" even at $129. How does this fit with the rest? The corkscrew is advertised as "strategically placed", though at an angle fitting his age. No link: you can search for it yourself and see what kind of trash Amazon starts recommending to you if you follow chickelit's link.

It would be bad for the country, but I would love to see Biden & Trump in a presidential debate.

Biden: I've always been in favor of women's rights. I remember back when Vaughan Brown and I were designing the Mars Ships, 'Vaughan' I told him. 'what we need are more girl astronauts. If a girl can be a Disney princess, why can't she be an astronaut? If we make the men's room a little smaller, we can we fit a ladies room into that space capsule.'

Trump: And when I'm president, we'll go back to Mars. First time in five years. It's a disgrace. I'll do it by hiring the best astronauts, the very best. Those guys we got up there now in that space station? Just going round and round. Swirling the drain, I call it. They're losers. We got loser astronauts.

Not surprising--this is what the Clintons are. Dangerous thugs who wish to ride into the White House on a wave of fear.

Biden should go ahead anyway--take the hits as they come and never apologize (learn from Trump's success! And Hillary's resilience, for that matter). Say you're about the issues and Hillary just needs to sling mud until everyone's at their level. And strike back. She has a glass jaw.

Whereas to find out about Hillary's ties to Wall Street, no opposition research is needed except for Google.

Which any Democrat voter can use himself or herself.

"With Biden's record, I would not be too surprised if it comes to light he made up that story about his son telling him to run."

I'm sure he did make it up, but how can anyone prove that? He's the source for the story and can say it was a private conversation.

I would be greatly entertained by the fireworks if Biden jumped into this race, as there's no way it wouldn't get ugly. Maybe during the debates they could do dueling negro dialects--"I ahm no ways tiyad" vs. "put y'all back in chains". Who wouldn't enjoy that? Biden could also spare us a Clinton restoration for which I'd always be grateful.

First of all, just the mention of David Brock or Sid Blumenthal should be enough to warn off anyone that this is a shady cabal working for Hillary. Remember Nixon's team? Imagine a group that would make them look like Cub Scouts.

Second, Wall Street ties--really? The Clintons are defined by far closer ties to big money and influence peddling. They didn't make $100 million just selling their gripping memoirs. What's the message here--"I may be crooked but look the other guy isn't a saint either"? Democrats are supposed to rally around that?

And Anita Hill--far as I could tell Biden's "crime" here was giving Clarence Thomas the benefit of the doubt. Sorry, but if you have a problem like that you're a ghoul and should consider one of the less freedomy countries to suit your fascist likings. Besides, as the Clintons always say--Old News! And do the Clintons really want to open up a discussion of '90s sex harassment scandals?

I fear that either Biden still won't run--each day of delay makes a run less likely to be successful--or Hillary will pull this one out, and face whatever sad mess the GOP makes of their own nominee. Then we get Clinton by default, and years of dirty tricks mixed with executive incompetence, and gridlock that will make us wistful of the cooperative days of the Obama years. We'll be looking at government defaults, maybe a few ill-considered foreign quagmires, and the slow death of our economy.

If Biden jumps into the race, he will have already considered the oppo onslaught that is to come. Biden is a very good politician, much like Obama. This does not mean that either of them are good leaders or nice people or anything like that, but they know how to do politics. Biden may be the idiot savant of politics; there is nothing to recommend him, yet he keeps succeeding.

Hillary is not a good politician and if it was not for her husband, who is a very good politician, she would never have made it this far in the first place. For that matter, if she was a good politician, she would be strolling to an easy primary win with a strong opportunity to win the general election instead of the mess she is in now.

Biden would not jump into the race unless it becomes very likely that Hillary is doomed. This sounds like the snarling of a wounded animal that is trying to bluff a few more minutes of life before bleeding out.

Anyway, oppo research really only works if the media latches onto it, especially in the Democratic primary. Hillary can scream and cuss, but if the media ignores it, it won't get very far. It will be interesting to see if the media is in the bag for the Democrats in general or Obama in particular. The fact that she's up to her eyeballs in scandals already is going to mute anything she does anyway.

Ties to Wall Street? Ha-ha. The oppo research on Hillary will be far more interesting. The MSM is currently avoiding the HRC closet. Once Biden enters the race, with the full support of Obama, the MSM may indeed start publishing the real back stories.
