Trump: "Anybody that hits me, we're gonna hit them ten times harder."

"As an example, if Bush or Rubio or any of them come out, we're gonna just, dollar for dollar, go after them. We have more money than anybody else by a factor of about a thousand... We're gonna start spending a little bit of money over the next three or four weeks."

Remember the kinder, gentler days of "If you get hit, we will punch back twice as hard"?

Trump is a third party candidate running as a Republican.

About negative ads he said something like, "it's going to hurt the Republicans more than it's going to hurt me."

Whoops. Minor slip of the tongue, eh Donald?

Unless he pitches in a ton of his own money, The Donald's campaign does not have very much cash.

Jeb Bush had to apologize for his "French work week" comment used in attacking Rubio. What a pussy. Trump would have doubled down and dared the French to actually work five days a week. Then he would have said how much he loves the French.

Jeb! is a making and ass of himself. Trump won't have to spend much money. Rubio looks like he'd be more comfortable in a Boy Wonder costume.

The highlight of the Jeb! campaign is when The Donald slapped him five at the first debate. He is Trump's putty.

The republican party has been a total failure since 1988. It is about time we had someone come in from outside and clean up the cesspool that is the national GOPe. Republicans win everywhere but at the national level.

Trump may not be my first choice but he is up there.

That is the point. I would rather have that than Rubio with all of his CoC money pushing amnesty.

That is the Colin Powell doctrine right up there with pre-emptive strike.

So Trump actually wants to win wars, and not from behind. That will sure seem strange after the last 7 Obama years.

Rubio is now 100% The Candidate for No Borders. No Borders means we cannot defend against invasion forces arriving on the former Mexican Border. That makes him an enemy at war against the Americans living here now.

I still believe that Trump will get Hillary elected in the end. I just don't see his appeal translating to a general election. In a sane world Hillary wouldn't even be a viable candidate. The Republicans should be able to run a ham sandwich a still beat her. The only thing that could screw it up is nominating a candidate that is even more broadly unappealing than Hillary.

Trump claims 10 times harder hits in retribution, but who can really tell past 5? I think he'll save 40% of his money and stop at 6 times harder. The effect will be pretty much the same, unless someone tries to shame him about only hitting back 6 times as hard when he clained 10x.

Then he'll have to hit back at least once or twice 11, 12, 15 times harder just to show he gets value for his money.

In a sane world, she shouldn't get the nomination. And the Democrats should be able to run a ham sandwich and beat Donald Trump. They could even run spam.

The only thing that could screw it up is nominating a candidate that is even more broadly unappealing than Hillary.

That's actually the Democratic strategy. And it has a very reasonable possibility of success. Any Republican stuck on stupid about immigration and amnesty and sanctuary cities - and so far none of them has actually argued himself or herself out of the logic trap they are in - could easily fall into that category, but some others could be made unappealing too on other grounds.

The way out is to make Hillary unappealing to people who support an immigration amnesty

Just ask her to take a position on Obama's policy of relying on corrupt Mexican police and Mexican drug gangs to keep people from Central America away from the U,A, border.

Well, now he said he wouldn't. He pledged "allegiance to the Republican Party and the conservatove principles for which it stands."

Unless he pitches in a ton of his own money, The Donald's campaign does not have very much cash.

That's a statistical artifact. Donald Trump has not contributed much money to his campaign in advance. Whenever his campaign needs money he writes himself another check. I think he could refund it to himself, but he's not choosing to do so, and besides maybe this way he collects a tiny amount of interest.

A lot of his campaign expenses are for traveling. This actually isn't costing Donald Trump any money at all, because he maintains his own private plane anyway.

To do the bookkeeping legally and properly, though, it is his campaign and not he himself personally that has to pay for any campaign related expenses.

And this is why any rich person allowing a candidate to fly free on his plane would be considered to be maiking a campaign contribution and he can't even do that legally, because of campaign finance contribution limits.

Loophole maybe: Trump is now on a book tour which may mean that a publishing company is not paying for some of his travel. And so is Ben Carson. (on a non-campaign fnded book tour)

That aside...

When the time comes to pay the company in charge of the plane, it gets calculated what is campaign flying and what is not, and he sends money to the campaign which then pays that company. He writes two checks, or maybe you can say three checks, instead of one check.

The thing is, he'd be paying that company anyway. It's a given in his life that he's going to use that plane.

Anyway, Trump's having very little cash on hand doesn't really mean anything, since he can write checks from his personal fortune (or that part of his personal fortune that is liquid) when he needs it. He can also arrange lines of credit from banks without too much advance notice.

Lol. You don't know anyone with a private plane, do you? If you ever meet somebody who does, ask them how much it costs to fly from here to there. Then come back and educate us.

I've been praying for some time that Dr. Carson knocks Trump out of first place. Once that happens (and it IS happening now), Trump loses his only real appeal -- that is, that he's number 1 in the polls.

I don't see Dr. Carson as the eventual GOP nominee, either. But if he is, then the contest between Carson and Hillary! would be the most manichean presidential race in our history.

I think I read some months back about a celebrity who was giving up his private jet because a flight from LA to New York cost him $100,000 one way.

I think Obama originally decided to run for President in order to gather material for his next autobiography. By some grotesque miscalculation, he actually won the election. Something similar is probably going on with Trump. His core business, as I understand it, is selling luxury condos to socially insecure millionaires. Trump probably got into the race to publicize his brand. Even if he loses, he's got his name out there. And if he wins, then he's one step closer to his ultimate dream of world domination.

Yeah, the thing I've been hearing for years is that the GOP needs a pro-choice, pro-gun-control, pro-socialized-healthcare, Clinton campaign donor who achieved fame by inheriting wealth and who complained that Romney was too hostile to Mexicans to come in, flip-flop on a few positions, and take the helm.

He is far more trustworthy than Rubio.

His other business is running for president and selling bullshit to socially insecure wanna-be millionaires.
