"Ann, minute to chat?"

I don't know, Tom. It depends on what the meaning of "chat" is....

Click to enlarge the email I just got from Tom Perez:

That doesn't look like chatting to me. That looks like 7 big red "DONATE" buttons.

You could at least pretend to want to talk to me, Tom. That was such a radical subject-line-to-body-of-the-text switcheroo, Tom, it wounded my sense of belonging. Not that I had any, but you didn't know that. Because you never take the time to chat with me, Tom.

Looks like the conversation is going to be about you giving up some of your money.

Money=Speech. He's chatting with you in your native (Citizens United) legalese, Ann.

Shouldn't conservatives raise a big stink that Perez fired ALL of the DNC staffers?

Trump firing SOME of the USA generated considerable outrage after all.

Firing and hiring an entire staff doesn't come cheap.

People used to donate that $3, $10 and $25 to their church or community organization, thus building the area where they lived. Now they donate to politicians far away while their neighborhoods either rot from within or are soulless places filled with hipster consumerism.

Chickenfeed.

If someone wants to ask me for money, I'd prefer that they just ask it up front right in the subject line. Like "We need money. Will you donate?"

THE PARTY makes all decisions. What's the matter, are you a counter-revolutionary?

TosaGuy said...

Dumping the entire staff after an election where the party got destroyed up and down the ballot when it was expected to win is probably the best move.

I imagine the DNC will go full lefty....far more than it already has. If that leftism focuses on racial grievance and rewarding the welfare structure, we will see further failure at the ballot box. If they focus on the economics of all people who actually work for a living, they will regain the initiative.

Oh Ann, you know on your heart you want to cough up $5,000 grand for the DNC. Go ahead, it will make you feel Gooood!

Now that Hillary has crawled back out of the woods, we will find out whether Speech=Money.

Tom, Tom! My eyes are up here. I'd appreciate it if when you talk to me, you look me in the eye instead staring at my.......wallet.

I'd suggest that anytime you feel the desire to send money to politicians that you just send it to the person the politician claims to be "fighting" for. Cut out the middle man, especially if the politician claims to want to help you.

The idea is that you give $50 to the guy or gal who will get you $100 from the other 49 states.

The fact that the guys and gals in the other 49 states are selling the same thing is left unmentioned, of course.

They are bribing us with our own money.

Use a virtual credit card with a $3 limit. They tend to overdonate you.

People who work for a living don't donate enough to matter.

Typical...chatting with politicians always ends up with their hands in YOUR pockets!!

I thought he just sacked everyone at the DNC. What do they need money for now? ;)

Also would like to note the complete lack of coverage of that event and WHY it happened.

Do you think Perez deliberately cultivates a 19th Century Marxist intellectual vibe in his appearance or does he present this way naturally, as the infection runs it course?

Worse. They are bribing us with our children's ( and grandchildren's, and great-grandchildren's... ) money.

Well, yes, we understand that merchants and beggars both want a "minute to chat" to further their own interests (and not ours), but, they're supposed to at least pretend that yes, really, they're focused "like a laser" on our wants and needs.

It's like the kid who's been pressured into selling candy to raise money for something or other, but instead of trying to telling you how good the candy is just blurts out, "I gotta sell 50 boxes, so will you please just buy one already?"

Illusions matter. Of course we care about you!

What does he need the money for? He just demanded the resignations of the entire DNC staff.

Because he wants to hire better crooks, money attracts crooks.

In the context of a group of citizens banding together(forming a legal corporation) and raising money to be spent on speech and political or educational activites, yes, that money is equivalent to speech. What about that concept is difficult to understand, exactly? It's pretty straightforward but you guys on the Left pretend like it's self-evidently preposterous. Is it willful, or do you really not grasp the concept?

He fired all the DNC staff so that the leaker, just in case the guy they shot in the back wasn't it, is gone.

Can't take chances.

Perez might be an even more malignant partisan than Ellison.

If this upsets you, never leave DirecTV. I did two and a half years ago, and still receive junk mail asking me back. For the monthly missives the first year, they identified themselves on the envelope. Then, perhaps realizing people hate junk mail, they've gotten more clever. I've gotten mail disguised to look like invoices, checks, and even greeting cards. None have identified themselves as DirecTV externally - I'm looking at you Chris Thomas of El Segundo (https://consumerist.com/2016/06/06/chris-thomas-from-directv-moved-to-att-still-sends-ads-disguised-as-greeting-cards/). AARP is just as bad.

You know people throw the envelopes out unopened, so you've got to trick them into reading your pitch?

I interpret those as "We Miss You! So much we'll lie to get you back!".

Unexpectedly.

Yes and he is smarter than Ellison. He will do a lot of harm.

Direct marketers know that the hardest thing is getting the recipient to open the envelope. There is only one return address that guarantees 100% are opened - the Internal Revenue Service.
