At The Red Bloom Café...

P1140146

... you can talk about whatever you like.

And do remember The Althouse Amazon Portal.

And some readers use the PayPal buttons in the sidebar and make a simple contribution. When you make a one-time contribution, there's a space that lets you leave a note, and I receive those notes by email. Someone might tell me about something in particular I'm doing that they like, which is really nice! Other readers use the "subscribe" button, which lets them set up a monthly contribution, such as $5. It's really wonderful to know there are readers who visualize the blog as something like a magazine, worthy of a subscription. I wanted to thank you for that.

The news that NOAA has released showing that sea levels are FALLING is a dagger to the heart of man-made global warming. The warmunistas have based a lot of the defense of AGW for the last 5 years on rising levels. Too bad. Wrong again! Sad.

I just saw the movie, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. The hero is an editor and a lawyer plus a cowboy. Liberty is bad. The context is different of course from today, 2017. BUT, there will be movies in 2020 like:

- The Reporter Whose Reports Took Trump Down (on NYT Maggie Haberman, who will get Pulitzer next year)
- The Fed Who Stood Up To Trump (on fat Walter Shaub who is beloved by NYT Eric Lipton)
- The Congressman/Senator Who Made Trump Resign (on Russia obsessed Adam Shiff (House) and Mark Warner (Senate))

Etc.

Doesn't sound all that different - a newspaperman and a lawyer joining forces to kill Liberty...

Don't we all have egg on our climate denier faces. I guess we owe Mr Obama a big THANK YOU. I mean, it turns out that really was the moment.

Catch-22 May Save Officer Mohamad Noor’s Job And His Skin:

STARTRIBUNE: "Mohamed Noor has a constitutional right not to talk with anyone pursuing potential criminal charges in the shooting death of Justine Damond on July 15.

But he'll still likely have to talk with investigators.

If the Minneapolis Police Department opens an internal investigation into the shooting, the law requires him to talk if he wants to keep his job. But even if he does that, what he says to internal affairs can never be used in a criminal case.

"That's the trade-off the Supreme Court made," said Twin Cities employment attorney Marshall Tanick.

Tanick is referring to a 1967 ruling, Garrity vs. New Jersey, involving police in the Garden State accused of corruption. When the officers were questioned, they were told they could invoke their constitutional right not to talk, but if they stayed silent, they'd be fired. Prosecutors later used their statements to convict them.

The officers appealed, with the U.S. Supreme Court saying anything that public employees say as part of an internal investigation cannot be used in a criminal case.

"The Supreme Court wanted to encourage people to talk," Tanick said...

________________

Sounds like if Noor spills his Sharia-guts to Internal Affairs, he'll essentially be home free. Although he may not keep his job - or his licensed-to-kill firearms - criminal prosecutors won't be able to touch him.

David surely if there is a strong case any self-incriminating verbal evidence not allowed at trial won't matter.

Why do you fear the case is weak, is it because of the system the case is contained within that the case itself is, or ought rightly be considered, weak?

If so my concurrence is now declaimed.

We didn't build this weak system, but by God we will call out evil by name and attempt elimination of the most ridiculous faculties empowering a game resulting in mass injustice as if it were not a blood-and-money soaked/ensaturated grouping of do-gooders smelling other than roses no matter the label placed where by whom.

No Go Zones: How Sharia Law Is Coming to a Neighborhood Near You:

"Kassam takes you into Islamic areas you might not even know existed—communities, neighborhoods, and whole city districts from San Bernardino, California, (a No Go Zone of the mind) to Hamtramck, Michigan (essentially an Islamic colony in the Midwest); from Malmö, Sweden, to the heart of London, England—where infidels are unwelcome, Islamic law is king, and extremism grows."

_______________

Come on, this Raheem Kassam character (and very recent, high-up Twitter employee) must be kidding. Besides, we have snowflakes and tooth faeries to protect us. Although they didn't exactly protect against Sharia-enforcer Officer Mohamad Noor, but he was surely an anomaly - a freak, a one-in-a-million rogue, as it were (he said with his face all twisted up like a pretzel).

It's sad how difficult NBC has made it to find classic SNL sketches online..

Not sure I agree. After all, we're talking about a public employee, in other words, a virtual untouchable. As proof, he's still walking around with a gun.

[Intro]
Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide, no escape from reality
Open your eyes, look up to the skies and see
I'm just a poor boy, I need no sympathy
Because I'm easy come, easy go, little high, little low
Any way the wind blows doesn't really matter to me, to me

[Verse 1]
Mama, just killed a man
Put a gun against his head, pulled my trigger, now he's dead
Mama, life had just begun
But now I've gone and thrown it all away
Mama, ooh, didn't mean to make you cry
If I'm not back again this time tomorrow
Carry on, carry on as if nothing really matters

[Verse 2]
Too late, my time has come
Sends shivers down my spine, body's aching all the time
Goodbye, everybody, I've got to go
Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth
Mama, ooh, (any way the wind blows)
I don't want to die
I sometimes wish I'd never been born at all

[Guitar Solo]

[Verse 3]
I see a little silhouetto of a man
Scaramouche, Scaramouche, will you do the Fandango?
Thunderbolt and lightning, very, very fright'ning me
(Galileo.) Galileo. (Galileo.) Galileo. Galileo figaro magnifico
I'm just a poor boy, nobody loves me
He's just a poor boy from a poor family
Spare him his life from this monstrosity
Easy come, easy go, will you let me go?
Bismillah! No, we will not let you go
(Let him go!) Bismillah! We will not let you go
(Let him go!) Bismillah! We will not let you go
(Let me go.) Will not let you go
(Let me go.) Will not let you go. (Let me go.) Ah
No, no, no, no, no, no, no
(Oh mamma mia, mamma mia) Mamma mia, let me go
Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me, for me, for me!

[Verse 4]
So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye?
So you think you can love me and leave me to die?
Oh, baby, can't do this to me, baby!
Just gotta get out, just gotta get right outta here!

[Guitar Solo]

[Outro]
Nothing really matters, anyone can see
Nothing really matters
Nothing really matters to me
Any way the wind blows

Lefties plan to troll the GOP with single payer. Given how MSM will lecture us ad nauseam that the GOP will lose bigly in the next election cycle because that's what happens in midterms why not move to 10,000 think pieces on why single payer is the Great New Deal.
