Radio alert.

I'm going to be on "At Issue with Ben Mehrens," a Wisconsin Public Radio show, at 5 PM Eastern Time today. It's a call-in show where we talk about the news of the past week. You can stream the show or, later, listen to the show from the archive.

Ms. Althouse,

Could you explain why you are not covering all of the damage folks like you have done to this country? Just curious, as you appear to be a complete sociopath with no regret or remorse for what you have done.

Do you ever consider suicide, as any human being who was part of the election of George Bush and not a sociopath would.

Your lack of conscience is truly stunning. As a white male, I could never imagine possesssing the arrogance that you seem to have perfected. I can only hope that some truly, horrific and deserved karma befalls you. Hopefully you will get some type of disastrous comeuppance personally, and hopefully soon.

Wow, talk about sociopaths! Someone who wishes death and disaster on someone for their political positions.

Nice audience that WPR has...

All these economics questions!

Listen to the nice podcasts with Mike Munger at econtalk.org, these being even entertaining, for the basic counterintuitive stuff you need to talk to public radio callers.

The one on trade was needed here, trade , for the argument on US job losses.

Some spoken word to fall asleep to, except it's interesting.

Let's all go to the horse show.
Sarah Jessica Parker will be the star attraction.

Yeah, all that economics stuff. That's the problem with asking for the top story!

So, all those people who voted for Nader in 2000 should kill themselves? Along with everyone 18 years and older by election day 2000 or 2004 who could have voted but didn't? As well as actual Bush voters? (Ann herself, of course, wouldn't fit in any of those categories in 2000.)

How mass a suicide are you contemplating and recommending? Any suggestions about handling the mass graves?

Hey--and what about all the orphans? Any plans for them? Or should any human being who was part of the election of George Bush first murder their kids under the theory that they're probably contaminated anyway, either genetically or by upbringing?

Okay, I'm now leaning toward free mental health care for the Left. And I can see why Hillary thinks it should be mandatory.

What about the people who voted for Bush, voted for Nader or who failed to vote in 2000 but then, in 2004, voted for Kerry? Don't they still bear some of the burden, even though they repented. Whattaya say--how about they just significantly maim themselves, say just paralyze themselves from the waist down, or cut off their dominant hand, or something?

Ann:

Kudos for stating the country is technically not in a recession. Be prepared however to take some lumps from your pals on the left.

Also, blow your horn a bit- when he says you are a blogger, remind him you have one of the most trafficked blogs in the country. That ain't boasting when it is a fact.

I just wish he'd stop saying the address as "althouse at blogspot dot com." It's not email!

Anyway, the last 15 or 20 minutes is the best part.

What was with all the concern about "contractors" in Iraq? The thing about the 41 raped women was just mystifying.

Sorry, but I could only get through part of it. Maybe you could convince Trooper or the Blogging Cockroach to call in.

As for China not selling dollars because "it will hurt them more hurt us". Famous last words.

- 1941 Japan will never attack us, we're their best customer.

-1917 Why would the Kaiser unleash unrestricted submarine warfare? It will hurt them more hurts us.

-1861 Why would the South fire on Ft Sumter? The north is their best customer!

-1775 Of course, the King will listen to reason. The colonies are England's best customers!

I would have called in, but NPR only lets boring nerds call in. It's educational don't ya know. I will be happy to call when the professor is on Opie and Anthony.

Politicos take note. Someone asks for comments on all the top stories of the week, and the population is focused on the economy. It might not be a recession in the classic definition, but there are plenty of worriers out there.

I was half-tempted to call in and talk about American Idol, but I'm so happy that Mr. Ascot was not voted to remain that I didn't. I think disgruntled callers are more interesting, although the horse story was good. Plus I figure Ben Mehrens doesn't watch.

Thats exactly what bored me. If I want a lot of ill informed, half-baked, worry about the economy I'll talk to my stockbroker.

Yeah. Mehrens was pushing me and I had to keep saying things like: I'm not an economist and I'm not going to make things up.
