white line fever...I wonder just what makes a man keep pushing on?

I bet if you rolled that hay a little bit you'd see a mouse.

Hey! Would you like to see a pop-up card wut I dun? You would? OK, here. This one is for a birthday party tomorrow. It depicts Egyptians celebrating around a pop-up modern style decorated cake. It's apropos of nothing at all. The hieroglyphs on the left describe the occasion and the English on the right translates the hieroglyphs.

Very nice, Chip.

1. Speaking about country roads.

2. Is Instapundit like the kid from the TwilightZone episode, the one that makes everyone smile and be happy? Is Althouse afraid of criticizing Insty? I'm not necessarily referring to his aberrant ideology (objectivism) but his support for things like the tea parties and intimidating politicians. Instead of supporting people having a real debate about real issues, Insty supports people acting out and throwing tantrums. Don't get me wrong: I don't want some pathetic bloggingheads-style "debate"; I want a vigorous debate featuring all sides about real issues. Instead of promoting that, Instapundit is promoting people acting like baboons.

3. Insty is currently promoting a "buycott" of WholeFoods. Some progressives have a different take (That proposal is as real as you want it to be).

4. GlennBeck fans who want to actually do something effective should read this.

Chip: I like the way the party guests are all bearing assorted gifts and favors--very celebratory, with an air of anticipation and respect.

Whatever it is that makes a man keep pushing on, you seem to have it ChipA!

chip, amazing!!!

Even beyond just the pop-up, Egyptians bearing a cake and a present would make a great (flat) birthday card. Then hieroglyphic and English subtitled Happy Birthday inside. Quick, sell it to a greeting card company before someone else does.

The Feast of the Nativity of Kentuckyliz is on July 2. I'm celebrating my twenty-twenty-fifth birthday next year.

(1) The green area looks like it is receding from the roadway but I’ll bet it is really encroaching. Get it? Receding! Ah say, ah say, that’s a joke, son, a joke!

(2) That white line is called a fog line. I learned that from my elderly family physician who was proud to explain to me that the AMA was instrumental in getting those painted all over the country so old people could see the edge of the road.

He once stuck his finger up my ass.

His exact words?

“Let’s get this over with. I’m not looking forward to it any more than you are.”

Some bedside manner. Not even a peck on the cheek.

I will give him credit for this, though: The guy lubed me up so much it took me five full minutes to wipe my ass clean.

Gross!

(3) And now -- it’s only fair -- your palette cleanser: Mahavishnu Orchestra and ”Open Country Joy.” You’re welcome.

P.S. I think maybe I needed that as much as anybody else!

That road is County Trunk Highway C, just north of Leland, Wisconsin. I ride it twice each year, on the first Sunday of May and the first Sunday of October.

The reason for the ride is an event called the Slimy Crud Run - a fun motorcycle rally for riders of restored, old, ratty, and new motorcycles, with emphasis on European makes. It's not a typical Harley rally, it's probably the polar opposite, although all makes are welcome.

It starts in Pine Bluff, just west of Madison, and ends in Leland, near natural Bridge State Park. Everyone finds his/her own route through the beautiful southwestern Wisconsin countryside.

Can't be there? Enjoy it vicariously here.

That road is in pretty good shape. The surfacing, the striping, everything about it. I wish the country roads where I live were so good.

I could use that trip to the country...

Those people who own the land on the right side of the road don't know diddly about how to store round bales of hay.

You need to tootsie-roll them in one long chain and make them as tight against each other as possible.

Also, they need to sit on a slight rise if possible and be aligned North-South.

Just sayin' ...

wv: allyfu

I don't know ally.
