"We should unite together to establish a Dog Party to fight for our rights."

"If anyone’s dog is taken away we should demonstrate."

Not a dog lover, but not a dog hater either. But don't they have the advantage of turning excess canines into delicacies? Or is that just the Vietnamese?

Unfortunately, they have to face the reality that while one dog is a pet, a bunch of dogs together do what they do naturally - they run in packs, not dissimilar to the wolf packs that they were bred from. And, yes, apparently dog poop is not as good as fertilizer as that of herbivores. But, if it is in the street or on the walk, it is also smelly and unsightly. And, yes, maybe a bit unhealthy, at least for humans.

You never know, man. The American Revolution started over increased taxes on tea and sugar.

I wander if she called it the dog party after seeing what the tea party can do..

(or maybe it had no roll whatsoever)

Dogs are a threat to the state.

All choices are a threat to the state.

Best accept your feudal future, where all but the most minor decisions are made for you.

For example, the number of times you chew your People's Chow* before swallowing will remain optional.

Bruce, I think it's the Koreans who are caninovores. The old joke that I heard in the Army was:

What do you call a Korean family with a dog? Vegetarians.

What do you call a Korean family with two dogs? Ranchers.

@rhhardin

But you're more correct; dogs are like guns and family: they undermine gubmint authority.

This should fuel another year's worth of Tom Friedman fantasies. Why can't WE have a government that forces (other) people to give up what they love?

Is the definace a good sign? Did the Chinese dare to be so openly defiant of the one-child policy in 1978?

traditionalguy said...

This is another good sign. People who love dogs do not so easily turn hateful toward other people. And that factor also leaves China out of Muslim madness.

First they came for the children, and I did nothing. Then they came for the dogs and now we must FIGHT!

I mean, I like dogs too but seriously? Priorities, people.

You know, it's sometimes hard to tell China from San Francisco. The glare from all that enlightened governance and social justice dazzles the eyes.

Although maybe that's too harsh. Maybe this is a good sign.

It's tough. You don't want to restrict people from owning pets, but by the same token in almost every building there is some lady who owns like 50 cats in a tiny apartment covered in cat feces, which is not good for the lady, the apartment building or even the cats.In the case of dogs they can be extremely loud which can be an annoyance to neighbors if they're barking all the time, and suppose you had 30 dogs all of whom were barking at the other dogs barking.Annoying as hell.

But keeping the restriction at one dog seems pretty extreme. As others have said, since they eat dogs over there, why not allow for ten dogs. 3 as pets and 7 as food supply.

Diseases Acquired From Dogs

Funny list, mostly incorrect, but in any case "Diseases Acquired From Other People" would include every transmissible disease.

Crowded: Dogs look out of their cages from a truck on a motorway in China.

Next stop: skinned alive. The picture they included has nothing to do with the article.

You don't have to get rid of the dogs, just their shit.

New York passed a pooper scooper law, and what do you know, the quality of life in the city improved exponentially.

A small minority of people abandoned their dogs, but the great majority of dog lovers bit the bullet (ick) and decided their dogs and their neighbors were worth their dignity and fastidiousness taking a small hit. Soon it became routine and was no longer humiliating.

Zoonoses from Dogs:

Those who think it's cute to kiss and hug dogs and allow them around children should get themselves a little better informed, and they can start here:

http://www.uptodate.com/patients/content/topic.do?topicKey=~YcqcTaoIWbfaVn

It should be noted that the list should include MRSA, which is a serious and spreading antibiotic-resistant disease.

While humans transmit diseases to other humans, there is no reason a person is justified in harboring disease-carrying animals without paying the social costs. We're all worrying ourselves to death over mercury in lightbulbs and lead in shopping bags, for Christ's sake!

Keeping a dog is like running an anthrax, rabies or MRSA factory in the home, and exposing children to such disease factories is a form of child abuse.

Of course keeping an pet animal has always been animal abuse.

As a lifelong dog owner, I will let you know when I die of anthrax.
