100 protesters were removed from the antechamber to the Wisconsin Assembly chamber which will, imminently, vote on the bill passed last night by the Senate.

The members of the Assembly are filing in now, Meade tells me by phone.

UPDATE: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:
The Assembly ripped into a bitter debate over Gov. Scott Walker's budget-repair and union-bargaining bill Thursday afternoon after police carried protesters out of the body to make way for GOP lawmakers to enter.
UPDATE 2: CNN reports from the "chaotic" scene. He describes police picking up protesters and carrying or dragging them out — "forcibly." It's not clear whether anyone is being arrested.

Yes!

(Keep your head down, Meade ~ in the figurative sense of course.)

I understand the Democrats have been in there a while, waiting. According to madison.com's live blog.

Hey! The Sun came out. Melt that snow!

Were they removed peacefully or dragged out kicking and screaming?

When are leftists ever NOT kicking and screaming...?

We will finally get to see Democracy in action. Remember that NO union votes ever take place that has two sides debating issues and adding a more intelligent point of view to the simple minded views used by bosses that run unions until for terms as long as Mubarak's and Ghadaffi's. Where are the 2 and 4 year election cycles for Union Bosses? Walker is freeing Wisconsin from Boss for life jerks.

Some idiot is invoking Jesse Jackson during the debate....

He's asking for Jackson to pray for the Assembly.

VOTE! VOTE! VOTE!

I noticed the quote from the kid from Duluth. Uh, did he vote? Is this what Democracy looks like? Actually, maybe it is. Madison called it mob rule.

Wow. There are two cleary different narratives being reported. Talling to pro-Union people right now is like discussing AGW with a Lefty who's never heard of the CRU hack.

Thank God for Fox News, Instapundit, GatewayPundit and Althouse Meade.

OK is there a secret Althouse/Meade twitter feed? A "Meade Feed"? that would rock...

Can any Wisconsinites tell me what the local media coverage is like? I can't imagine it's better or more informative than what we're seeing here.

Apologies if this has been covered in other threads. I can't keep up!

Why the hell is Jessie Jackson addressing them?

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (a federal agency) only 14.2% of the Wisconsin work force is union.

It is clear that the 14.2% think their "rights" trump that of the other 85.5% non-union workers of Wisconsin by their demandes for more and more largess from those non-union tax payers.

And why are the Democratic Socialists of America and the Communist Party of America calling for supporters to the protesters in Wisconsin?

Kind of makes you wonder who is behind all this, doesn't it?

TWM said...

Ohh, maybe he is just doing a prayer. That's cool, I guess.

I am so sick of this crap being put out by the Democrats that the unions simply "want a place at the table."

Fine, let them have a place at the table. Put all their salaries and benefit packages to the people in the form of a ballot. Then, the union has a seat at the table and the non-union tax payers have a seat at the table.

But hey, that is not the Communist/Socialist/Marxist Clowar & Piven, Alinsky way.

Meanwhile, Gateway Pundit has a vid of Madison teachers skipping out of work again today (led by the Mayor, of course). At what point does this stop being only covered by bloggers and some "controlling legal authority" steps in to start a legitimate investigation? God knows how many laws have been broken in the course of this protest, but someone somewhere should be charged with tallying them all up and apportioning responsibility. Is it a job for the State Police? A "Special Prosecutor"? Maybe a Federal inquiry of some sort? Whatever the mechanism, the lawlessness needs to be thoroughly dissected after the smoke clears.

Are these people working under an existing contract with the usual "no lockout/no strike" clauses? If so, they should be fired. Period.

Now that is what a democracy looks like. A mob is replaced by an orderly assembly that votes.

PatHMV said...

It's about time. I was all for biding time and letting the protesters have their say, even for weeks. But those weeks have come and gone, and it's time for order to be reasserted.

Ann Coulter went screaming wench on Scott Walker last night for NOT going screaming wench himself on TV & twitter & whatever like he was a candidate for something. Ann's perspective is becoming increasingly distorted, as she embraces cap-and-trader Christie while a REAL GOP hero like Scott is left to push-polls and stupid asides. The only valid point Ann made was Walker's talk with a phony Koch impersonator, which did indicate Scott is somewhat of a novice in big-time tackle football.

On the other hand, keeping the low-key attitude might sway the people who REALLY count, my fellow native Wisconsinites, to hang in there and watch the Dems self-destruct. Maybe NPR will cover it.

The disruptive protestors being pulled out should be smacked with a nice hefty fine each, large enough to pay for the increased police and court work they have caused.

And if they were honest about their opinions, they would write that multi-thousand dollar check to the State with great pride. (Ha!)
