"This interview was conducted by two African-Americans, a man and a woman. It was a subtle touch. And a profound one."

That's Andrew Sullivan telling us about "One small thing I only really noticed until tonight" [sic].

Oh, good lord. What the hell is subtle and profound about it? Is there something special about "a man and a woman"? (That would be ironic, since the interview was all about saying "a man and a woman" is not special.) Is it about 2 black people? Oh, my! What an amazing occasion — 2 black people are talking!

Can we ever settle down and be normal about the fact there are people of different sexes, different races, and different sexual orientations? I wish Andrew Sullivan would be a little more reflective — to the point of experiencing embarrassment — about the sentimental twinges he feels witnessing black people accomplishing something.

Give Sully a little credit. At least he admits that this whole thing is being "roundly mocked".

I was at the Oval Room with the Blonde last night. We were all celebrating of what it will be like to be Mitt Romney now. He is finished. He is nothing. It is over. Go home, GOP.

The election was in the bag. Now, it is over. The results are known.

Obama/Biden defeat Romney/anyone every district, every city, every state. He will lose the reddest state, SC, the dixieland, by at least 50% points.

It is over for the GOP. The President has won. Now, the challenge is to identify the right time to have his statue on Mt. Rushmore. An airport named after him. Soon schools and streets will be named after him.

GOP: You lost so big that you do not even know now. You are like a QB who is blind-sided.

It's what passes for profundity with Sully, I'm afraid. He thinks he's that perceptive.

Subtle and profound are pretty much antonyms so Mr. Sullivan must be possessed of a highly irregular sense of touch.

Whatever else it was, it was not subtle.

Offhand, I can't think of any pundit more out of touch with what I think and feel about America and American politics than Andrew Sullivan.

No. There's a need by a certain spectrum of humanity to categorize people, as if individuals don't exist.

I've taken to not describing someone by their race. Not out of any political correctness, but out the simple fact that it really has nothing to do with the story.

Given the topic is he suggesting that BO and Roberts have a thing going on?

That depends entirely on whether or not you're on a date in Norfolk, VA.

I was impressed that in the very first story Drudge linked to when NC passed their amendment on this issue was a picture of a black man and a black woman - celebrating the passage of the amendment. Nice of Drudge to find that image so quickly! (You can see the story he used here. The image that was originally at the top of the story is now down on the right side of the page.)

The Sully comment that you quote--I'm not going to the link--sounds like something a couple of moms looking into the back yard might say of their kids, "Oh,look at that, aren't they just adorable?).

In the left's mind minorities are simplistic children.

In the left's mind, minorities are simplistic children.

And conservative minorities are those awful, hyperactive, distracting children who need to be medicated into obedience.

The Left is full of total schizerinos who on the one hand can't stop seeing blacks and gays and disabled dwarfs and on the other hand are all storm trooper insistent that those differences not be seen and absolutely not be noted by the unLeft.

I heard Sullivan on NPR last night. I laughed. His statement boiled down to; this was a cynical, calculated ploy by the president to raise money which touched me deeply.

I don't understand why people bother reading Sullivan. As the old saying goes, 'What he says that's new isn't interesting, and what he says that's interesting isn't new' -- when he's not simply making up BS.

Chris in Mass--

They see them far more severely. They are not to be medicated, rather, sent to a mental hospital or gulag because they are out of their minds.

People have a natural tendency to be extra suspicious of men who are very different from themselves. Historically, people have tended to have had unsought meetings with such men especially when the lands of the people have been forcibly invaded. In a situation like that, the invaders often sodomize the invaded. It's accordingly a kind of immature blanket defense that people have against the wrong sort of sentimentality to avoid smarmy feelings of admiration toward those vastly different, especially when the admiration is unexpected. Basically, only having clear notions of the evil of sodomy can produce more discerning and mature emotional tendencies unaccompanied by anxiety. Of course, when one hasn't actually been sodomized by an alien group, it is looney to be emotionally reluctant to feel as much admiration as the characteristics of the aliens suggest appropriate, but such sanity would be too much to expect of people who don't see clearly that sodomy can chemically warp feelings of admiration, and in particular, that forcible sodomy is a tool that racists and pillagers can use against other ethnicities by way of securing obedience or of glorifying violent nasty enslavement to the home folk.

The bigotry of low expectations, as practiced by liberal progressive, is really stomach turning. There is a story linked on drudge, about a mob of teenagers, numbered between 12-15, assaulted and robbed scores of people returning from a concert. The original posting doesn't have a description of the perpetrators. So, one is left to surmise...what group of people have been engaging in group assaults for the past few years. If you thought black teenagers, are you a racist, a realist, or both? But to leave out the description, thinking, "Well, no one will assume it was black teenagers" is down right childish.

Yes, and what's revealed is AP's inner bore. Great ghu, I think I would die if I tried to read one of those comments in its entirety. Not that each comment is that long individually, but if I accidentally read part of one the stench of boredom clings to me for days afterward, so if I chance to encounter another one it just adds...

Why is what AS thinks important? Worthy of note? This is the guy who ripped off his tip jar subscribers by shaking the tin cup almost immediately before "retiring" from blogging in late '04, only to reappear with a paying gig with TIME a few months later.

Isn't a record of integrity some sort of a a prerequisite? Or, at least, a non-record of lack of integrity?

And why did federal prosecutors want to drop the charge of pot possession on federal land against him, much to the ire of the presiding judge? Look it up.

But yet his random thoughts are still considered things that the rational world should note.

I am so sick of him. Or, more accurately, those who bring him to our undeserved attention.
