"You know life has changed when you’re hanging out with Jane Fonda backstage."

"There is no greater embodiment of being outspoken on behalf of what you believe in — and being 'all in' in every way — than Jane Fonda. And it’s a huge honor just to even briefly have shared the stage with her."

Said U.S. ambassador to the U.N. Samantha Power.

I am always impressed how people like Samatha Power get to the top. Her S.O. was at OMB - what is name? Susstein. They had access to POTUS Obama, who is the least vetted man in history. (Hillary! will be the one whose record - gasp, Benghazi - will never be covered. She is the next POTUS). What was Power's role in Benghazi. No one knows. No one will ever know. What is exactly her accomplishment? No one will tell you. This is the impact of GOP - a party that has no sign of intelligence. They have given pass to the Democrats.

The pro-genocide wing of the Democrat party is well represented I see.

Well, seeing that on Veteran's Day just makes me want to vomit.

Supposedly serious people, swooning at the thought of being on stage with a Hollywood celebrity. Yes, we are in good hands.

Honest to god - I can't think she's so stupid as to not know about Fonda's history so I can only assume she's craven and whoring for left wing attention.

It seems to me that an Ambassador should be a tad more diplomatic in expressing her feelings.

At the end of the U.N. function, Power was tired of protocol. Tired of hitting the human-rights, pantsuit fundraising global awareness circuit, sharing tables & meeting life-partners amongst brilliant legal minds, sexist old-money Eurocrats and sweaty, ruthless dictators.

Perhaps she yearned for something more. But what was it? Was it the adrenalin and purpose she felt on the ground back in Bosnia, dodging sniper-fire Hilary Clinton could only falsely boast about later on?

Her lips were moving, and the words came out.

"You know life has changed when you're hanging out with Jane Fonda backstage.'

'Shout out to Code Pink!'

Later that night, or any night really, the half-read draft of Security Motion For The Proposed Action Of The Amendment To The Council Rules on her hotel bed beside her, she would lay alone...

...listening to the strange but reassuring street-sounds of Milan, of Brussels, of London...listening for something....listening so restlessly...what was it?

then...maybe after 3...staring at the shadows bending with light and time across the wall...drifting between sleep and memory:

Her lips moving faintly:

"There will be rights...we are all human...this can be a better of possible worlds...there is a spirit moving through each one of us, this suffering shall have had some purpose...

Back when Jane was with Ted Turner, she pitched a friend of mine here in Chicago on a threesome with Ted and her. I wonder if she did the same thing with Samantha and Cass?

On second thought, I may have been unfair to Ambassador Power. Living in Cambridge, she probably doesn't know anyone who thinks Jane Fonda is anything other than a standard-issue liberal.

Yeah, Fonda is a true role model. She supported a system which, by design, not chance, consolidates capital and control with a minority. Perhaps she thought an invitation to the inner circle was forthcoming.

I can still remember the stories told by POWs who tried to pass messages to her when she visited them in prison. Does she still remember gleefully passing the forlorn little notes to the NVA guards?

She IS a standard issue liberal.

Power is first and foremost a hypocrite. She came to fame as a venomous advocate for human rights, and pushed aggressively for the U.S. to stop "genocide" as it happens. And after all that, she's serving the administration with the biggest clusterf-k foreign policy since Jimmy Carter. Cowardice and grandstanding define Obama's tenure in foreign affairs. Power enables it. Screw her and Hanoi Jane. The vets we honor today deserve our attention, not these disgusting political whores.

We are governed by scum. This one is barely American. Also it is important to remember that President Obama is a lying sack.

Since when does an Ambassador think meeting an actress-who-is-a-traitor is an honor? Since Obama, that's since when.

Paul,

More and more that seems to be the case. More Henry Wallace, Barack Obama, and Elizabeth Warren; less Hubert Humphrey, Scoop Jackson, and Ed Koch.

Obama took care of the WWII vets when he put up the barrycades, so his henchwoman in charge of lying to the United Nations and likely member of the IRA - Samantha Power, who takes over duties to insult Viet Nam Era Vets. Susan Rice taught her well in the art of exposing ex-military to enemy fire.
