Rebecca Kleefisch (Wisconsin's Republican lieutenant governor) gets an article in The Weekly Standard.

"Scott Walker's Successor?" Excerpt:
Kleefisch is easily likened to former Alaska governor Sarah Palin. Fox News featured Kleefisch on a program about “Mama Grizzlies”—a phrase coined by Palin herself to describe GOP women who see their political roles as fighting for the future of their “cubs,” part of what Palin has called a “mom awakening.” The Wisconsin State Journal called Kleefisch “our Mama Grizzly.”

Like Palin, Kleefisch is polished and attractive, with the poise of a broadcast journalist. Both women have been calledBarbies.” As lieutenant governor, her domain is limited to job growth, so she doesn’t talk much about social issues. But, like Palin, she occasionally gets in trouble for making incendiary remarks, like the time she compared gay marriage to marrying a dog. If Kleefisch wants to make it to the governor's mansion one day, she'll need to put comments like that behind her.

The other view is that gay marriage isn't marriage, it's civil union.

A live and let live approach that the gays would do well to adopt as well.

But it's okay for Obama to call Tea Partiers Terrorists????

The picture provided is indeed beautiful like Sara Palin. Incidentally, in my opinion calling women politicians "Barbies" I much more demeaning than showing Nancy Pelosi twerking. Calling them Barbies is a general attack on all sexually attractive women with the implicit assumption that sexually attractive women are somehow not up to wielding power. On the other hand, the picture of Nancy Pelosi is about her specifically and does not carry the same general connotations.

What's wrong with marrying a dog? Affectionate, trusting and trustworthy, low maintenance, and ... they don't talk back.

Has she ever had to work real hard to achieve....anything?

I like pretty girls, and I know they get special consideration. How many stories have you heard of women avoiding traffic citations? I don't think there are pretty girl considerations in the Governor's office.

Hmmm....where did I put the roach clip?

Comparing "all men" to dogs, however, no problemo.

@John Lynch: I've seen Wendy Davis called "Abortion Barbie".

Pretty ugly, but of course GOP women are routinely called worse--and Wendy Davis's abortion stance was so extreme that she's since renounced it.

She has the same eyes as that UConn dog.

Woof.

Neither she, nor Wendy Davis, are as hot as Palin was when she was running for VP.

I don't know much about her, but hopefully she's got better character and intelligence than Palin. Sounds like she has a while before she gets a chance at the governorship, and for her sake hopefully can prove herself.

I predict Walker makes a short-lived stab at the White House, then goes back to finish his term. Can Wisconsin governors serve a third consecutive term?

Yes, FOX news pundit Erick Erickson called her Abortion Barbie!!

Why does this jerk radio guy Sylvester still have a job? He needs to be fired.

Don't think there are any term limits for WI governor. Tommy Thompson served 4 terms.

I'm pretty sure Wisconsin would elect a governor that feels same-sex marriage is like marrying a clock. Sure, why not?

Thanks--I'd forgotten about that, though didn't realize he'd served that many. I'm guessing if Walker gets reelected this year (looking likely) and 2018 looks good for him, it could delay things quite a bit for his LG who may have to try a Senate run to get to the next step.

"Barbies"? Isn't this the same vile sexualization that Dems are now complaining of re Brietbart?

See my comment to your latest post, and Touche'.

Wasn't she a talking head on the TV prior to becoming a professional politician?

Great qualifiers for the Governor's mansion, even better than Burke!

They may not want to talk about it, but their selective exclusion of other dysfunctional behaviors has exposed their hypocrisy, sanctimonious hypocrisy. And with normalization of murder/abortion, there is virtually no "legal" limit to behaviors.

The Democrats, the Left generally, need to record their religious doctrines (i.e. moral philosophy), because their selective principles engender instability and are creating moral hazards, which they seem unwilling or unable to reconcile.

So, how did you get to know that much about Palin ? From Talking Points Memo ?

Yes, I decided to suddenly become a partisan Democrat just for the purpose of learning about Palin.

Or maybe I've seen her televised speeches, disastrous interviews, and read her own words. Or considered her laughable reasons for dropping out of her last job.

I'll agree that many of Palin's critics go way too far and have been unfair in judging her, but that doesn't mean she isn't dishonest, proudly uninformed, and pointlessly nasty. The only good thing about her is she seems to be gradually fading away as more conservatives start to realize how little there is to her. Ironically the people who are likely to keep her in the limelight are liberals who seem to delight in using her as an example of a Republican.

See as soon as you make this statement your hackery in all it's stark raving ignorance is revealed.

Nice job of regurgitating DNC talking points

She did very well on the oil commission and resigned because of a flaw in the Alaska constitution that required her to respond to frivolous lawsuits wit her own funds. The law was corrected as soon as she left office.

One reason why she has no allies in Alaska is because she took on the corrupt Murkowski machine, then when se became the GOP VP nominee, she was targeted by the DNC and dopes like you.

I like her because I have experience in local government and her type of courage and competency is rare and precious once you find it.

She was too inexperienced in national campaigns but she was also sabotaged by Nicole Wallace who set up that interview with Katie Couric. She did poorly but I haven't seen the outtakes. Have you ?

When have we ever heard this said about a Dem like Biden who says equally if not mor offensive remarks? Dems are never held to any standards.

Not gonna happen. At least now those these stories don't stay hidden to show up on election eve.

Paul and Michael K--I'm guessing there's nothing you could ever see or hear about Palin that would change your mind about her, so I wouldn't even try. But don't make the mistake of assuming that all her critics are DNC shills, or wishy washy conservatives who are easily duped by such shills.

Of course there is the fundamental distortion of the real point. If the definition of marriage is rent out of shape by same sex, there is no reason not to consider polygamy equal to real marriage. Even now polygamy groups are lining up for their civil rights. Next is the pederasts with NAMBLA. I have read headlines about people marrying their dogs.
