"She gave us her word. I said, 'How will you handle police brutality?'"

"She said: ‘If you put me in this chair, I don’t care if they are in uniform or not. I come from a family of officers. Some are good, some are bad. I will hold everybody accountable to the law.’ And thank you, Jesus, she lived it out."

From a NYT article about Marilyn Mosby, the Baltimore prosecutor who has charged 6 police officers with homicide for the death of Freddie Gray. The quote is from a woman whose brother was killed by police and who strongly supported Mosby's campaign to oust the incumbent state's attorney for Baltimore City.

And here's a quote from  Lester Spence, an associate professor of political science and Africana studies at Johns Hopkins University: "Black power is about taking the office and using it to make government more humane for black people, and that’s what we see in her. She’s supposed to treat me, the corner boy in the Western District and the police officer exactly the same way when it comes to the law. Historically, because of racism, her predecessors have not effectively done that."

She is trying to leverage her 15 minutes of fame into a political career.

SJW as a prosecutor, bad juju.

Prediction: She is out of her depth and over-reaching. She will end up like OJ's prosecutor, or the Duke Lacrosse prosecutor.

In other words, it's payback time! For Obama and Holder and Cummings and Lewis and Powell and Sharpton et al, a place of power is a chance to exact racial revenge.

And that is exactly as it should be.

“It’s been 78 days since Michael Brown was shot in the street by a police officer,” Ms. Mosby said at her alma mater, Tuskegee University in Alabama, in October. “It’s been 101 days since Eric Garner was choked to death in New York by a police officer, and 54 days since the New York City medical examiner ruled that incident a homicide. Neither has resulted in an indictment.”

On Micheal Brown, isn't she aware of the need for probable cause?

Eric Garner wasn't "choked to death".

Will Baltimore burn yet again if, or when, she botches this case after rushing to charge the officers?

I'm really surprised by the speed at which events are unfolding. Will it all be resolved by November?

The people of Baltimore can thank Martin O'Malley for his legacy of how the police were to police.

I want equal justice for everyone, regardless of race, religion, sex or gender. That to me is the goal. Stupid me.

Not much response yet from the cop worshippers. Where are all of you assholes?

Mosby doesn't seem to be into "racial revenge" at all -- Officer Caesar Goodson, the driver of the van, is facing the most serious charges, and, according to the Telegraph, he is black. Of the remaining officers charged, three are white and two are black.

so, in 101 days there were three incidents that rose to the level where people got outraged. That's 1/3 of a year. How many arrests or incidents occurred in that time frame? Of the three row were not charged. perhaps because there was nothing there.
This one may be different, but I don't get how a guilty charge is a requirement.
As is supposed to happen. District attorney's looked at case and said nothing should happen to officers.
If she hi is something should happen by default it may speak to her bias, and there is then a great reason to get a special prosecutor.

No jury will vote unanimously to convict any of those police officers of even one crime.

It’s been 78 days since Michael Brown attacked a police officer and was shot. It’s been 101 days since Eric Garner resisted arrest and suffered a heart attack on during transport in New York, and 54 days since the New York City medical examiner ruled that incident a homicide, which did not result in an indictment of any responsibility. Never the less, in 101 days these three incidents were artificially inflated to the level where people rioted and destroyed the neighborhoods in which they live. That's 1/3 of a year.

Not a cop worshipper, just a realist.

Yeah, after he tried to take a cop's gun away and shoot him. The prosecutor's seems to be rushing to judgement for political reasons. How many crooks have gotten "rough rides" and not broken their necks? A thousand? Ten thousand? We don't even know HOW Gray broke his neck. We *think* he fell on the bolt the wrong way. I don't know how you manufacture a homicide charge out of that.

I expect this prosecution and trial is going to be a train wreck. And Baltimore is gonna burn again.

I think they may be at the FOP and are hiring a lawyer that will throw this stupid would-be politician right out of court.

I am not fan of cops but this is not the way to do this. It might end up like Gil Garcetti moving OJ's trial to downtown LA so he can get a black jury, then losing the case.

The driver is in the most trouble. He's black. I don't know anything about him other than that. My guess, however, is that he doesn't have a record of twenty prior arrests and doesn't loiter on street corners in order to sell drugs. Whatever the outcome of the trial, his career is over. If his kids go to black schools, they'll have a bad time......I don't know the facts of the case, but I can think of other scenarios besides depraved indifference for Freddie's death. We'll see how it plays out, but the people who thought OJ was innocent will judge these cops to be guilty with the same fervor and certainty.......Way to go Baltimore. Coleman Young didn't have much success in Detroit, but he did cut down on police brutality. Young men felt free to frolic on Devil's Night without fear of police interference in their non violent arson. It will be a cold day in hell before any cop in Baltimore will take it upon himself to chase down a drug peddler.

I don't know how you convict a driver for manslaughter from what I've heard. What kind of medical knowledge did the driver have? What condition was Gray in, when the driver last saw him?

How many times did the driver have "passengers" who acted like Gray and didn't have anything wrong with them?

The Godfather said...

Gray's injuries occurred while he was in police custody. A person in police custody, being transported to the station for booking, is not supposed to suffer a broken back. There's certainly sufficient grounds to charge the police officers involved.

In the Ferguson case, sensible people waited for the legal process, in that case a grand jury, to develop the facts. Sensible people criticized those who reached conclusions about what happened without adequate knowledge. Shouldn't sensible people withhold judgment about these charges until the legal process develops the facts?

Black DA goes after black cop in black-run city being destroyed by black rioters making life miserable for other blacks. Now that's racial revenge for you.

Still, the point is correct. Prog power is about revenge on success. Black Prog power is about revenge on white success.

Baltimore is the new Detroit

The last of the whites who can get out of Baltimore will after this tragic fiasco.

Are you disappointed there aren't more or sorry that they aren't providing you with a way to claim your superiority?

I have a healthy fear of the police, in that if I don't need them, I avoid unnecessary contact with them. But if I'm in trouble I'll still call one before I call the neighborhood crackhead.

His quote about needing to treat people equally is spot on, but "black power" should not run counter to that. The only societal wrong a prosecutor should be correcting is any unequal treatment under the law.
