The lying crackhead is a lot less funny...

... dead.

Were you among those who laughed at Toronto Mayor Rob Ford? I wasn't: "Me, I've always ignored Ford. I didn't care to amuse myself with him when he was supposedly so amusing."

The man was a clown...but it was in Canada, so it didn't really matter.

Hotlink at "dead" is, well, dead.

Rob is Dead, that's what I said.
Everybody's misused him
Ripped him up and abused him
Another junkie plan
Pushin' dope for the man
A terrible blow
But that's how it goes
A Robert's on the corner now
If you wanna be a junkie, wow
Remember Roberts dead

actually he died of cancer, not from any drunken shenanigans. so, i feel bad for the guy and his family. I didn't realize he was sick. And that he was actaully that young.

"Lying crackhead" is no way to sum-up a person's life.

But he's a white male, so I guess it's okay.

And most people I think laughed with him.

Epitath: Somebody had to vote for him to win office.

Eh, I dunno; it's tough to avoid a cliche.

You make your bed...
You pays your money and you takes your chances...

Thanks. Sorry. Fixed.

Thank you for this post. I didn't laugh either - and was always amazed by the ugliness of the mockery, which seems to make a lot of people feel better about themselves, which is really sad.

Perhaps he died as a lesson when we make the election choice between Trump the Teetotaler with high energy and Hillery the exhausted heavy drinker.

May you be at peace, Mr. Ford.

Your loss.

He was my Mayor. I voted for him. He will be missed.

Mayors in Canada don't have that much power, so he was more amusing than anything. It's not like in the US were a city can somehow decide that an entire Constitutional Amendment doesn't apply to it.

Ford is a tragedy in many ways. My sense of him was that he would have been happiest as a high school football coach (which he was, in his spare time), but he came form a political family and had political skills. His brother, who lacks those skills, but is a political animal, pushed him into an office he wasn't constitutionally suited for.

He was one of the very few politicians in Toronto who respected the taxpayer, but he was destroyed by an opposition that was vicious and relentless. I can't vote here, and I didn't think he was right for the job, but given the chance, I would have voted for him anyway just to piss off the Toronto Star.

The time they made him smoke crack, and then videotaped it - that was just unconscionable.

I remember reading about Ford at the time of his election. His opponent was establishment down to his shoes.

But if you thought Ford was batshit crazy, and he did give that impression, the other, establishment, guy was far far nuttier with far, far, more baggage.

Ford seemed to me like the better alternative.
