"The bikers are certainly used to being outnumbered and we are prepared to form a wall of meat."

Said Chris Cox, founder of Bikers for Trump, who are attending the inauguration.

That quote dragged the word "Altamont" up out of the swamp of my memories.

Let's hope for a better outcome than Altamont.

I'm pretty sure these guys carry without regard for local laws.

Bikers were dragged through the muck by the counterculture. They rise with the dawn as the counter-counterculture. Awesome.

The DC cops are very good at handling protesters. I have seen this from the great vantage point of a 4th floor window overlooking 17th & Penn where pro-Israeli & pro-Palestinian protestors tried to get into it. It was especially impressive to see a ~5'6" black policewoman separate two would-be combatants with her billy club.

For such a liberal town, you'd think that DC would be real softies for lefty protests. Nuh-uh. Not in the least. After the lefties trashed Seattle in the 1999 WTO riots, they thought they'd stage a repeat performance in 2000 in DC. The cops came down on them "wit' a quickness", & they were contained.

The only time I think that the DC cops failed to contain a riot was the 1991 Mount Pleasant Riot. I think a lot of that had to do with Mayor Sharon Pratt Kelly's mealy-mouth response more than any failure by the cops.

Lots of protests planned. Expect full coverage on CNN.

One more in a long line of reasons for lefties to pee their pants.

Agreed.

It wouldn't be the first black guy attacked for being a Trump supporter.

Glad to see Once is on board with stopping violence against Trump supporters.

We will see if that new found non-snowflake tolerance will persist. I have my doubts.

Obligatory pitch: If you haven’t seen the Maysles’ Altamont documentary Gimme Shelter (or haven’t seen it lately), run, don’t walk, through the Althouse Amazon portal to buy it. And while you’re there you’ll want to pick up Grey Gardens too.

And for a reason.

BTW, this isn't the same Chris Cox who is the chief lobbyist for the NRA is it?

This is not a paid Hell's Angels group. It is a Patriotic American volunteer group that Soros could not buy with pieces of silver to demand a crucifixtion of the new guy coming to town to clean the Soros Operated Temple.

And who gets to call out the National Guard in DC? Obama has terminated its General effective noon on the big day when Soros's paid men have scheduled for rioting.

I think you meant the black guy will threaten people with a gun and be killed, but not shot, in self defense.

Altamont. I was there too. It was like the last judgment, or Charon ferrying crowds over to the gates of hell: https://goo.gl/kMk8xi

Wow. Even AA can succumb to the cognitive dissonance of assigning motorcyclists in clubs to being being violent gang members. We might as well say all Trump Voters are violent racists and Hillary Voters FemNazi Marxist clones.

Well said, traditional guy.

Frednande,

Nice catch re: Altamonte. It further demonstrates that Unknown/Inga has no idea of what she is talking about.

He added: “The backbone of the biker community is the veteran. So these are guys that aren’t really used to backing down. You certainly won’t see bikers out there screaming, calling for destruction of private property or the death of police officers.”

Oh, boy! Another "community" heard from!

The sniveling cowards on the left attempting to disrupt the peaceful transfer of power?

Why, yes. Nice of you to finally recognize that.

I wonder how many protesters would turn out if there was no TV coverage.

The only time I think that the DC cops failed to contain a riot was the 1991 Mount Pleasant Riot.

To clarify, there should be a "modern-day" in front of the word "riot" there. I did not personally witness the riots in the 1960s, but I did see the mark they left behind 20-30 years later in large sections of even downtown D.C., with blocks of decrepit buildings whose entrances smell of stale urine because homeless guys use it as a toilet and plenty of scantily dressed women selling themselves nearby, and worse as you go farther out. Took a long time to rebuild, with gentrification then moving in, resulting in not only black "minorities" being pushed out but real minorities like Chinese being almost entirely pushed out of Chinatown -- but that's another story.

In the last 30 years or so, though, yes D.C. has had many protests, many with obnoxious would-be, wannabe violent leftist types (ANSWER) wanting to trash the IMF and other places, but being pretty well contained. Credit Marion Barry I suppose for D.C. not exploding again like it did in the 60s.

Meanwhile, there were also some groups that would bring in a couple hundred thousand people to demonstrate and march, and they would pick up their own trash and respect the grounds and spend $$$ at restaurants and bars afterward, but those are the pro-lifers, so they are invisible to the world and do not count.

Mark said...

Speaking of bikers though, tens of thousands with Rolling Thunder do come through here every year peacefully. They are not invisible though, nor can people pretend to be deaf to them.

Mark said...

If three protesters go, the TV coverage will come.

If there are three protesters on the sidewalk, and 200,000 pro-life women and men, mostly young people marching for life in the street, the TV coverage will come and cover the three protesters.

Or they will pick out a handful of extremists on the right and aim the cameras at them.

I saw how they work when I attended a local protest in front of a Planned Parenthood clinic held after the first, horrifying videos were released by Project Veritas. There was a good sized crowd of entirely normal looking people there, many of them young - and no TV coverage whatsoever. The rally was due to end at 2 pm and after that people, including me, started leaving. I had parked about 5 blocks away and when I drove past the clinic, only a handful of people, one holding a sign which said "The Pill is murder" were still there. And that's when the TV station showed up.

So anybody watching the news that night got the impression that, see, only 7 or 8 anti-contraceptive crazies care about this issue.

The local media pulled the same trick with the Tea Party rallies.

Everyone should keep in mind that the DC government is run by Democrats for the benefit of Democrats. I do not expect great things from the DC cops in the event of Democrat-sponsored riots.

It's high time we moved our nation's capital to, say, Denver. Or maybe Sioux Falls, SD.

Mark said...

Everyone should keep in mind that the DC government is run by Democrats for the benefit of Democrats.

It should be noted that in the last few years, the D.C. Council has been run by progressives for the benefit of their pet progressive causes and not so much for the benefit of traditional Democrats. And those traditional Democrat constituencies, i.e. the black community, ain't too happy having been co-opted by a bunch of white leftists.

Joke if you want, but remember this final, astounding detail from the most astounding election night in American history: Trump’s Victory Speech Ended with ‘You Can't Always Get What You Want'

I will cheer and celebrate if a whole bunch of bikers kick the living shit out of a whole bunch of progressive democrat party scum. It's well past time to start fighting back with superior violence against the thugs and scumbags who are occupying our public places, blocking our freeways, inciting riots and attacking our peaceful gatherings.

Trump accepted his routine resignation. I don't know why but maybe they knew something we don't.

Ann, when you raise the specter of Altamont, are you suggesting that a "black guy will threaten people with a gun and be killed, but not shot, in self defense"? Or are you perpetuating the myth that evil bikers picked a innocent concertgoer at random, a nice black man who was just there for the music, and killed him in what would represent the end of the "peace, love, drugs and rock 'n' era"?

exiledonmainstreet __ I used to do counterprotests in Los Angeles before I moved to civilization. The TV newsmonkeys would set up in the middle of our group, tape the lefties across the street, and leave, never speaking or making eye contact.
