A tiger was — who knows why? — roaming in Atlanta, Georgia.

"Unfortunately, it jumped a fence and went after a dog back behind one of the residences here. And the officers had to use some force to put the tiger down."

Saint Croix, that's amazing.

Years ago I read Helen Thayer's account of her trek across the Arctic sea ice to the north magnetic pole. An Inuit gentleman in Resolute Bay had persuaded her to modify her plan of being totally unassisted and alone, to the extent of buying one dog. Basically he told her, You will die out there. A polar bear will sneak up on you and you won't know it's there until it charges. Several times in the story, her ~100-pound husky mix not only alerted her to a polar bear four or five times his size, but fought with one (biting the hind legs, steering clear of those jaws) and chased it off. Attitude and determination can go a hell of a long way.

I'm sorry for this tiger. I can believe the authorities did what they had to do, but the animal never should have been in this situation.

Okay, I admit it. It was my tiger. I called it Ann.

The proximity to the schoolbus route was no coincidence. I'd been training Ann to frighten the children. Not eat them, mind you. I kept Ann well fed. But seeing those brats shit their underoos would have been quite the cackle.

Regrettably, Ann jumped the fence before my little prank could be executed. (I'd planned it for the run-up to Halloween, on a day when the kiddies were in costume.) I can't account for why she went after the dachshund. Probably thought of it as an amuse bouche. There's no two ways around it--mistakes were made.

Having said that, the police response in this situation was wildly disproportionate. Striped orange lives matter! I call on all cat lovers, all LSU and Princeton alumni, all supporters of Cecil the Lion, and every caring person, no matter what his or her race, color, creed, gender, orientation, immigration status or arrest record, to stand with me. (Please, no fatties.) Information on my GoFundMe page to follow.

There are more tigers in captivity in the U.S. than are free in the wild.

Henry County is not Atlanta.

Henry County Demographics are interesting:

2000 census-
119,000 total, 81% white, 14% black.

2010 census-
204,000 total, 55% white, 37% black.

Black flight from Atlanta?

Eh, Henry and Clayton are both in "metro Atlanta." The south part of Henry County isn't much like intown Atlanta, though--I agree there.

Partially Rabel. The big influx however are black families moving to Henry County from Clayton County for the schools, which at the north end of the county, where the influx is happening are now falling into Atlanta/Clayton county distress. Shaquille O'Neal lives there now which is kinda hip. He's out and about and a really good guy.

This Tiger will almost assuredly turn out to be the property of some 5th rate rapper wannabe, The metro Atlanta area is infested with em.

Somebody's 'weed guy' saw the movie "Grandma's Boy", went "Hmmmm....", and then couldn't find a lion.

what is it about dogs? Most of them are courageous to the point of stupidity. Oh, hey there's a tiger, might as well go after him!

I suppose they genetically programmed to assume there's a pack of other dogs helping them out. Even when there isn't.

"Tomás reached the place first; Morocho had the cougar pinned down. He knelt, too[k] out his knife, and killed it."

and then he says...

Morocho was, as usual, scarred but happy and wagging.

Scarred, as usual? Happy and wagging? After a fight with a puma?

This is the part that really annoyed me, though.

Probably looking to get the hell out of there, the puma jumped in Sofía's direction.

Now who made the conclusion that the puma was looking to get the hell out of there?

Dogoman wasn't there. He's relying on what he says was told to him by Tomas. But Tomas wasn't there when the puma assaults the girls. The only witnesses are the two girls.

"the puma jumped in Sofia's direction."

This statement (by Dogoman) completely contradicts his conclusion that the puma was trying to get the hell out of there.

If a puma was jumping at you, would you conclude that he was trying to run away?

Certainly the dog--who was also there, unlike you, me, Dogoman or Tomas--did not conclude that the puma was running away.

Anyway, regardless of which story you believe, in both versions the puma is attacking the girls and the dog is sacrificing himself to take on the puma. I find the message board version to be less credible.

Probably it was a refugee from Auburn University as it was previously selected by the long ago White-Male "Enemies Of The People" OR because one Louisiana, Confederate, military unit was termed "The Tigers".

Clemson versus Auburn game was in Atlanta?
I know Tennessee played Georgia Tech there.

So, some truck was transporting animals from Florida to Tennessee and stopped. The tiger got out.

Sorry 4th rate rapper wannabes.

My 12 year old cat attacked my girlfriends despicable daughter' awesome sweet pitbull last year. I totally misread what happened. Life ain't been the same since.

Actually this was a case of PETA actions have consequences. Ringling Brothers circus has been shutdown. it had, or at least contracted for, 14 tigers. Since the circus has closed, these tigers became economic refugees. They were on their way from Florida to Germany, with apparent air shipment from Tennessee. The truck carrying the 14 tigers stopped overnight in Georgia and one got loose--and then got shot. The other 13 will find gainful employment in German circuses. Hey if you are a tiger and need a job, you go where the jobs are.

Donald: If your girlfriend's daughter is despicable (and I completely accept your judgment that she is), get the hell out of that relationship.
