At the Cat-Reads-Althouse Café...

... I don't know if the cat is commenting, but you sure can. Feel free to pass along your cats' and dogs' views and also to write about whatever you want.

The photo was emailed by a reader, who gave me permission to use it. Thanks!

As usual, I will prompt you to use The Althouse Amazon Portal, which keeps this crazy thing going.

Isn't that what finally brought down The Borg? Their comms networks got clogged with pictures of cats?

If Kleiman goes though the Althouse Portal, is he still stalking?

I thought National Review would be all over the Pope/filial thing. Seems right down their alley. Nada so far..

Kleiman actually commented in the Kleiman thread. He made some convoluted point about Anne's criticism of his use of quotations, so I guess he's part of the grammar police or something. I was unable to discern the pressing need for his tedious comment. Don't be boring, Mark!

WTF happened with Jerry "I'm going to fire anyone who kneels" Jones tonight?

I didn't see it myself but Mr. Pants who is in another state fired off a quick text to the effect that he and the whole team knelt? What? Can someone explain? Also while you're at it does anyone have some idea of what the end goal is here? For the teams to just kneel in perpetuity? I mean what is the damn point of all this nonsense?

Yes, apparently the Cowboys all knelt in prayer.

And that's why the comments are incomprehensible.

The Cowboys can kneel to their hearts' content prior to the anthem. But they stood when the National Anthem played, which is what Trump wanted them to do all along. He won bigly.

To get everyone to bend the knee.

Twas a bad thing when Tebow did it. We've come a long way.

Ah, that makes more sense. Thanks for the explanation. :)

MADISON, Wis. — After nearly a month of angry demonstrations and procedural maneuvering in the State Capitol here, Gov. Scott Walker won his battle on Thursday to cut bargaining rights for most government workers in Wisconsin.

Peter Barca, the Democratic leader of the Wisconsin State Assembly, said: “Our democracy is out of control in Wisconsin. And you all know it — you can feel it.” More Photos »
But his victory, after the State Assembly passed the bill, also carries risks for the state’s Republicans who swept into power last November.

Democratic-leaning voters appeared energized by the battle over collective bargaining on a national stage. The fight has already spurred a list of potential recall elections for state lawmakers this spring. Protesters are planning more large demonstrations this weekend.

“From a policy perspective, this is terrible,” said Mike Tate, the leader of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin.

“But from a political perspective, he could not have handed us a bigger gift,” Mr. Tate said of the governor.

My cat says that the current news and this (ahem) old news reminds her of the stories told by the old Tom cat when she was growing up. When the the mean kid tied their tails together and let them fight under the clothes line.

Check out Hussain Bolt in mid interview with a Foreign Reporterette at a Track meet and he stops her when he overhears the strains of the American National Anthem being played in an distant awards ceremony. Hussain turns and silently honors the country of trophy winners, and only resumes the interview after the last verse.

He is not even an American. But he understands mankind's ritual of honoring or dishonoring of an opponent. But these BLM indoctrinated athletes have not a shred of honor in their dark souls or their fellow Americans National Anthem.

That kind of characterless display incites a deep resolve in Americans to leave whatever they are doing and go to correct that conduct right away. They never should have done that!

You're fighting the last war. Next Generation Battery Technology will solve this. If worse comes to worst they can just vitrify everything they fear as a waste.

I'll take a golf cart that seats seven comfortably, goes from 0 to 60 in five seconds and has a 250 mile range any day!

So then you live somewhere not mountainous, with a mild climate, so you don't need a lot of heat or air-conditioning, and are content to rent a car whenever you go on a road trip? Because you ain't getting that 250 mile range running the heat and defrosters on a sub-zero day. Pulling a trailer? Ha ha ha ha! I can't stop for an hour on the way to Boston to recharge. For me, I would have to have money to burn to buy a Tesla.

I saw that "seven passenger" Tesla at the Newport Boat Show. I don't think any adult over the age of about 17 would be happy in those back two seats.

tim in vermont said...

I used to drive a Suburban, that would seat seven comfortably and go 500 miles on a tank of gas. We put ten in it once to go skiing, but two of them found other rides home from the slopes, unsurprisingly. I can't imagine taking seven people skiing in that Tesla. But I guess the limited range (Will it really go 250 miles with seven adult passengers?) keeps the discomfort to a minimum.

tim in vermont said...

By the way, I actually considered a Tesla, before I looked into it. Spent the same money on a far more capable car.
