i guess the redhead is the diversity offering?

hey, @LATimes, i can think of one way that we can "change the way many stories are told"...look up irony in the dictionary before you write your cover lines. pic.twitter.com/X2b7uTvzUn

I would like to point out that I don't recognize any of those women.

There is plenty of diversity in the pic. I see Germans, Danes, Norwegians and a Scots-Irish (Annette Benning) to never surrender the fight . Has skin color now become all that counts? Do we need Skip Gates to run their ancestors.

The title is "The Envelope."

I assume that is what is being pushed.

By white women.

Who have status.

By pretending to be other people for a living.

Or Meryl Steep, with an Oscar Envelope.

For pretending.

Pretending she never noticed anything.

What a wonderful caricature of wealthy and famous white women asserting their victimhood.

That is so typical of the left. Look at the editorial board of leftist magazines.

I only saw the obvious after I noticed the poster was black...since blacks rarely write about anything other than how terrible it is to be black - because white people are naughty.

At first I thought "the obvious" had something to do with that one model's shirt falling off.

Can "The Envelope" be a metaphor for the Vagina?

Of course it could.

Which is why it will always be men pushing the envelope.

Same as it ever was.

Well, ok they're all good looking, white millionaires, but that doesn't mean their life is absent of sorrows and hardships. Every day they have to struggle to maintain weight. They taste chocolate maybe two or three times a year. Their trainers put them through a physical regimen schedule that's worse than Marine boot camp. And after all that struggle and hunger, they still have to watch Harvey jerk off in order to land the part. The courage and suffering of these women simply cannot be underestimated.

"There isn't even an actress with brown eyes!"

It's almost like they were selected on the basis of their physical appeal in a nation where the majority of the population is white. I really can't think of any other explanation. Shocking! It's as if you went to Bollywood, and all the actresses were Indian!

The Golden Globes had their chance last year but they gave the best actress award to Brie Larson instead of Ruth Negga, who did a fabulous job in “Loving.”

What bs , all this posturing about diversity. White guilt is still alive. The real sad likeness of that picture is that all of those women represents a sick perverted industry. Betcha all of them have been in bed with the likes of Weinstein many times over for lust or ambition.

This is a very strange photograph. Women all entwined in weird ways, the old lady has to sit on a chair because maybe she can't stand up long enough to pose? One thinks she can wear her silk boxers and someone's jacket, one thinks it's One Shoulder Day, some think it's a LBD shoot, one thinks she needs to look like she's on a coffee break from her IT job.

I know two of them.

Meh.

And was there a thing about blonde shiksas?

chickelit said...

@Althouse: Please name the non-blonde actresses who were excluded from the photo so that we assess the hypocrisy. As for the black man implicitly protesting the lack of color representation, the black man's burden is on him to name the outspoken black actresses excluded from the photo.* To pose a bunch of multicolored faces together only for the sake of diversity without acknowledging individual courage is morally reprehensible. But that's the moral perversion of identity politics.

There are no black women because there are no top quality black actresses (can we use actress or do we say actor now, or do we have to say black female actor?) or there are no black women because they do t put up with that stuff or are there no black women because the white men only lust after white women?

Who's the one standing on the far left. She's the sexiest, and she's wearing blue. Is that some kind of subversive statement. I hope her career isn't derailed because she's not wearing black.....I can recognize four of the six women. It's important to know who Annette Benning and Kate Winslet are if you wish to avoid boring movies. Saoirse Ronan is the only one whose moves can make a movie. She's very good. The Meryl Streep of the next generation.

OK, US demographics are 76% white, 13% black, 5% asian, 1% amerindian, most of the rest mixed.

How do we accurately reflect that in a group of 6 women? Each woman represents 16.7% of the total.

One black, one Latino, and four whites would have virtually nailed it.

Black women are almost exclusively harassed by black men.
But that doesn't suit the modern fashion.
I am willing to believe that 95% of harassed actresses are white.
Only one Asian that I know of has been revealed, the Filipino-Italian model that tried but failed to get the NYPD to investigate Weinstein.
The lack of brunettes is interesting in itself.
I guess producers prefer blondes.
Hmmm...

Margot Robbie (aka Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad). I recognize her and Kate Winslet. The redhead looks familiar, but I can't name her. I didn't recognize Annette Bening either, though she too looked familiar. The others? I have no clue.

Great thing about Hollywood & feminism - we've seen at least 60% of those tatas, maybe more. Not sure who all of them are. All thanks to 'female empowerment.'

Feminism - giving men what we've always wanted and convincing the ladies they're 'fierce' for giving it to us.

Two thumbs WAY up!

SGT Ted said...

More proof that modern feminism is merely the effort to privilege the sensibilities of upper class white women in society.

My unreconstructed 80-year-old southern-born father was complaining to me about all of the people of color in the commercials these days. Ironically, he still votes Democrat, not realizing that the party no longer wants people of his racial demographic. I pointed out that that was why Trump got elected.

There are plenty of gifted black actresses working today. Witness The Help and Hidden Figures. The problem is, white Hollywood tends to stick them in the high-profile prestige pictures in award season and then tuck them away again til the next white liberal validation project.

We've seen this blacklash before, but it keeps getting swept under the rug by the MSM and populist leftists. White, hetero women want to lump themselves with LGBTQ and POC. They believe acting as if will make it as if. In reality they're viewed as far closer to white hetero males than they'd prefer to admit, but the roosters are coming home to act as roosters do. And once the left loses this demo they're up a creek.

While I don't live in the Hollywood culture, I have occasionally traveled through it. My strong impression is that many of the people in power positions are nowhere near as thoughtful or perceptive as they think they are. They are extremely insular, monochromatic, monocultural, and monotonous. Their blindspots can be staggering.
