"If Clinton had been charged, Obama’s culpable involvement would have been patent."

"In any prosecution of Clinton, the Clinton–Obama emails would have been in the spotlight. For the prosecution, they would be more proof of willful (or, if you prefer, grossly negligent) mishandling of intelligence. More significantly, for Clinton’s defense, they would show that Obama was complicit in Clinton’s conduct yet faced no criminal charges. That is why such an indictment of Hillary Clinton was never going to happen. The latest jaw-dropping disclosures of text messages between FBI agent Peter Strzok and his paramour, FBI lawyer Lisa Page, illustrate this point."

"Clinton–Obama Emails: The Key to Understanding Why Hillary Wasn’t Indicted" by Andrew McCarthy (National Review).

Now the Patent Office is involved...

There is noting new in here that people who followed the story weren't discussing when it happened. It was clear to me that the timing of the meeting, right before Hillary testified, was for Bill to learn whether she was likely to be indicted or not.

That would tell him whether she should agree to be questioned or take the fifth, with enough time to spin it politically for the media if it wasn't going her way.

That literally no reporter could put those facts together told me everything I needed to know about the media.

Fox News included.

the key to understanding why. yeah, we all know why already. because the dems, white house, fbi, doj and media wanted clinton elected. mccarthy''s key is merely a smoke and mirror and not reality.

we got comey exoneration of clinton for the same reason we got trump collusion story.

also, it is not now abundantly clear to everyone that comey was fired because he was running the fbi like it was the second office for the clinton campaign. comey was running fbi into ground. there can be no obstruction when it is clear as day that trump's instincts were 100% right all along. i would not be suprised if mueller actually comes away agreeing that comey had to go.

I am asking a serious question here- did Obama really communicate with Hillary Clinton by e-mail only 20 times when she was Secretary of State, and always under his alias?

This is one of the things I have seen repeated over and over, and yet find it almost impossible to believe. It makes me wonder about all the e-mails Clinton didn't turn over to State- were some of those e-mails where Obama communicated under his real name?

I'm sure Inga will be along shortly to complain about the "violent rhetoric" being thrown around.

After all, what is wrong with overthrowing the American government through a series of lies and abuses of power, jailing and fining innocent people, and installing a permanent Democrat Dictatorship, right Inga? Thats no big deal, no one likes the Constitution anyway. Certainly not Democrats, that's for sure.

I mean, destroying America is an admirable thing in Inga's mind. How she and others long for Stalin and Beria, because certainly they could "take care" of all of us irritating conservatives and independents standing in the way of glorious Democrat Utopia!

So why should anyone involved in overthrowing the US government ever be punished at all, right Inga? They mean well! And the blood they were going to shed of tens of millions of Americans... well, no one cares about the deplorables anyway, so no biggie, that's Inga's motto! What's more worrying is the desire to hang Democrat traitors--that's completely beyond the pale!

However, McCarthy is wrong about this being even a primary motive for letting Clinton go free- even if Obama had never communicated with Clinton by e-mail, either sending or receiving, it wouldn't have mattered one whit- she was the leading candidate for the 2016 election, and that was sufficient for giving her a pass.

The first time Obama realized that that Emails to Hillary were not going to a dot-gov account he could have ordered her to use the secure State Department system for government business and threatened to sack her if she refused. His failure to do so leaves him culpable. But looking at the numerous data breaches and especially the vulnerability of private personal and healthcare transmitted by the public via the Obamacare portal, I am left with the impression of an entire administration that did not care very much about the security of its official, sensitive data nor the privacy of the public’s data entrusted to it.

For eight years the rot was deep and widespread.

Why, in the grand scheme of the universe, do Progressives always project their sins onto their opponents? I can see how, when they ruled the airwaves with three compliant networks and every newspaper carried Democrats water, they would fall into complacency in saying others were crazy and crude and misbehaving. After all, the Free Press sure did cover for Kennedy, Johnson, Carter, Clinton and Obama. But ever since Matt Drudge started dredging up newsworthy bits that the Press tried to obscure, they have known that the jig was up, that Americans could find the truth by going around Pravda and Izvestia -- er TV and newspapers -- and see original reporting elsewhere.

So why, in this time and place, do they insist on selling the story that a candidate who conspired with foreigners and colluded with Russians to spy on their opponent and game the election (having already co-opted the DNC and gaming the primaries) is the aggrieved party and the innocent upstanding Man is the Russian puppet. I guess it is the same impulse that kept flailing the "he's not fit for office" story while the really infirm candidate coughed up a lung at daily campaign events, collapsed like a wind-blown tent, couldn't climb stairs and needed two weeks rest to prepare for a debate. If you wrote this as satire people would call it purple prose. Crazy!

It's pure projection and incredible folly to do so. Yet they persisted. Very strange.

Obama’s criminality far exceeded Clinton’s and that is a high bar. Obama turned the country into a police state and was spying on and persecuting his political opponents. They had every intention of running this investigation even if Hillary won.

Obama and his close minders are the true villains in this. Clintons were corrupt but venal on the Imelda Marcos path. Obama was on the Stalin path.

Here's a theory. We wanted a regime change in Syria (part of the "Arab Spring" a la Libya, Egypt). Russia was bribed with Uranium One. We start a civil war in Syria. Russia threatens to intervene in Syria. We start a civil war in Ukraine. Iran is bribed with the release of frozen assets. Russia intervenes in Syria. Trump becomes a viable candidate for President. The establishment is desperate to elect a president friendly to their cause, decides to stage a propaganda campaign to smear Trump, but Americans questioned the credibility of the traditional methods (e.g. allegations of immoral orientation and behavior, anti-American sentiment) and messengers. Failing to prevent the election of Trump, they have staged a progressive coup to either remove or neutralize the President.

It seems to me that level-headed discussion of the FBI investigation of Russian influence in the election got a little too close to home and suddenly my Republicans are sounding like Democrats, pushing the blame toward the investigators. If this effort is a feint to save Donald Trump's arse while ignoring Russian contacts is simply wrong. The problem it seems is that the FBI supposedly got FISA warrants illegally but if that happened, FISA Judges are trapped as well - an I simply do not buy into that reasoning. As for biased Democrats conducting the investigations, the claim is silly, since everyone in Washington is for one or the other political party. The New York Times had a more balanced look at the situation in December.

A top counterintelligence agent, Peter Strzok, exchanged the messages with Lisa Page, a senior F.B.I. lawyer. Some messages criticized Mrs. Clinton’s team, the Obama administration, Congress and other Democrats. But the two appeared appalled at some of Mr. Trump’s comments during the campaign and feared that he would politicize the F.B.I.

For example, after Mr. Trump made an apparent sexual allusion related to the size of his hands, Ms. Page wrote: “This man cannot be president.” In another exchange, Mr. Strzok wrote of a potential Trump presidency, “I’m scared for our organization.” He also referred to Mr. Trump as a “douche.” The messages were turned over to Congress .... It is highly unusual for the government to release these types of documents until such an investigation is complete. The move caught internal investigators by surprise. F.B.I. regulations allow agents to express opinions “as an individual privately and publicly on political subjects and candidates.

The two F.B.I. officials also criticized Mr. Trump as the Russia investigation was continuing. They told internal investigators that their comments were influenced by the troubling evidence they were seeing about Mr. Trump’s campaign ties to Russia, according to a person familiar with the internal investigation.

Yeah... I also tend to doubt that Hillary and Obama will ever see a jail cell no matter what. Even if all their corruption is revealed to the American public in such a way that it's completely irrefutable, unassailable, and otherwise unspinnable, a large swath of the general public (probably in the order of like 40-45%) will refuse to hold them accountable to anything. They'll prefer living in complete cognitive dissonance. They'll dig their heels in, accusing everyone who wants to hold Obama and Hillary accountable to anything of pure partisan revenge seeking.

If push comes to shove, many of them will howl and rage and protest senselessly. You think the resistance was bad before, you ain't seen nothing yet. They'll choose to live in a delusion rather than face the cold, hard reality that these people that they idolized are really horribly corrupt creatures.

So rather than causes mass hysteria, a decision will be made to just pretend that justice has been done even though it really wasn't.

Suppose Obama and Clinton had email messages that were all totally legitimate messages about matters of state ("I would like your opinion about the proposed agreement with Iran, attached." "Have we made any progress on our trade negotiations with Brazil?"). Even emails like this would cast Obama in a bad light because: (a) He sent classified information to Clinton on an insecure email (possibly criminal, and in any view showing poor judgement (b) After sending messages to this insecure email account, he denied in a news interview that he knew anything about Hillary's private emails. My point is that Obama didn't need to get a benefit from the use of Hillary's private email in order to get a benefit from covering up the use of the private email.

These progressives have done this in numerous countries. It always ends the same way with people like me who fight rounded up and killed and people like you living under their thumb like good dhimmis. You have mountains of evidence and decades of them calling every republican a Nazi, eliminationist rhetoric, and as you pointed out the Scalise shooting. They paid for violence at our political rallies. There are several Mayors in cities who told their police to stand by as we were attacked. You cannot say what you think on college campuses. You know Hinckley is out of jail right?

Have you seen a lefty condemn the Scalise shooter? Anywhere? They expressly promote violence. Obama is different from Chavez or Maduro or Castro or Mugabe or Pol Pot or Stalin in only one way.

BDNYC:

The sequence of events is correct. Also, while the Republicans seemed to resist involvement in Libya and Egypt, they were less hesitant to engage in Syria, and Ukraine became a common point of interest among all the Republicans candidates except for one: Trump. Syria seems to be a cause for overlapping and convergent interests that was previously absent, then progressed from there to capture a seemingly odd target: Ukraine, where a democratically elected leader became a viable target for a coup.

Note that the Crimean peninsula has Russia's sole warm water port with connection to the Mediterranean. Losing that naval base would cripple Russia's intervention in Syria, and be a persistent reminder that they are vulnerable. In addition, there were targeted sanctions in Russia proper, which all together may have been designed to promote a coup in Russia.

So, America and Europe are diversified and managed with divided and marginalized (e.g. racism, sexism, fascism) populations, and Russia is neutralized for purposes of future "Arab Springs".

I wonder what plans they have for China. Perhaps they believe that economic dependence is sufficient to temper Chinese global ambitions, or it's too late to confront them directly, and they lack leverage with the people to realize direct solutions as in Libya, Ukraine, etc.

That said, the usual methods: allegations of immorality; accusations of racism, sexism, diverse phobias; and preying on white guilt, seems to have lost their effectiveness and delay their progress in both America and Europe.

We are seeing what that game plan has become four years later.

Interesting to me that the word "coup" is rising to the surface regarding the Dem affiliated. I believe it is accurate. It is also ironic that all this is coming out because of conscious choices by the Dems to try to nullify the election through Mueller. It has gotten to this point because they have been able to get away with flouting the law and engaging in abuses that would put Republicans behind bars.

By and large, I am a huge fan of Andy McCarthy but this sudden stink arising from the House Intelligence investigation traces to the committee chair, Kevin Nunes' four page memo that he even refuses to show to the new, Trump-appointed, FBI Director. Further, the only person to have read the documents used in Nunes note is fellow Californian, Democrat Adam Schiff, who seems to rationally argue that the classified papers do not support the paper's conclusions.

Nunes, on the other hand, has spent a great deal of his time covering Trump's backside on all matters controversial in the past. Additionally the mounting evidence of Trumpers interacting with Russians is hard to ignore, especially when you consider that documents show that Trump has done some shady business deals with the Russian mob in he past.

Back to the Cold War, Nikita Khrushchev famously told the U.S that "We will bury you!" This makes it hard to ignore the Russians. Khrushchev was not talking about armies fighting a war.

So since Trump is in charge of the FBI, why hasn't he stepped up to open the files, as McCarthy has previously suggested? Unless, of course, he knows that the investigation would show facts not favorable to the President.

I'm old enough to remember Obama's "The 80's called, they want their foreign policy back". That was back in the distant days of 2012. And suddenly, without any explanation or rationale whatsoever for their 180 degree about face after 80 years of *themselves* colluding with Russians, Democrats take the Russian threat seriously. The reason is obvious: Proof of THEIR collusion was found, they knew it, and the only way to protect themselves was to project it all onto Republicans as hysterically as possible. That's what the last year has been about. All of it.

Pompeo is angling for Tillerson's job. And when Trump lies, he goes along.

On October 19, CIA Director Mike Pompeo took the stage at a prominent Washington think tank — and promptly told a lie.

NBC News’s Vivian Salama asked him: “Can you say, with absolute certainty, that the election results were not skewed as a result of Russian interference?”

“Yes,” Pompeo responded. “The intelligence community's assessment is that the Russian meddling that took place did not affect the outcome of the election.”

The problem is the January 6 assessment Pompeo referred to — which represented the collective judgment of the FBI, the National Security Agency, and the CIA — actually said something very different: “We did not make an assessment of the impact that Russian activities had on the outcome of the 2016 election.”

That’s not the only problem. Pompeo’s misstatement didn’t occur in a vacuum. Instead, it mirrored a line of falsehoods that President Donald Trump has been peddling since his surprise win last November. “Intelligence stated very strongly there was absolutely no evidence that hacking affected the election results,” Trump tweeted on the morning of January 7, the day after the intelligence community’s report was made public.

To what end? I am American. I oppose social justice adventures (e.g. elective wars, redistributive change, retributive change), elective regime changes, catastrophic anthropogenic immigration reform, sacrificing Americans in a Libya-Syrian Rebel Affair, and, as you may be well aware, life deemed unworthy (i.e. Pro-Choice), the wrong color (i.e. diversity), and other proto-leftist philosophies. I oppose the progressive coup in America, and multi-trimester effort to disenfranchise American citizens. I am fascinated by the slow leaking Water Closet: Obama spied, Clinton colluded, DNC denied the nomination to the Jew, and journolists of the fourth estate executing public lynchings (i.e. trial by press), which is what Watergate was purported to have been, and so much more.

That said, why are you fixated on Ukraine, to the exclusion of all the other shitshows created and progressed during the last administration? Do you support deposition of democratically elected leaders? Do you support opening abortion fields for elective causes, for immigration reform (e.g. gerrymandered votes, labor arbitrage)? Do you support the effort to bribe Russia, then Iran, and collusion with foreign intelligence assets to deny civil rights and undermine the integrity and function of our government?

Proof, Dummies? Show us the proof!

I can also say what Pompeo said with certainty, because not one person has been produced who changed their vote due to Russian influence, not one cast vote was shown to be changed through hacking, and almost no one saw the Facebook "advertising" that "some say" was so influential, until after the election (not to mention the fact that many Russian ad-bots were promoting anti-fracking stories that are obviously more pro-Hillary than pro-Trump).

So until evidence is produced and verified in public, people who think "Russia influenced the election" are in the same camp as people who think Bigfoot lives among us and think Elvis is still alive. Proof, dummies. Show us the proof.

@Michael K, thanks for the book tip on “The Intimidation Game.” I’ve read that almost every congressmen who voted for Clinton’s impeachment were put on a list and later targeted by the CIA and other alphabet soups; no idea if it’s true.

That Obama would have been implicated in exchanging classified emails, using an alias, over a non-secure server is a strong reason to exonerate Hillary. It doesn’t totally explain the FBI/CIA’s zeal and rabid, frantic efforts to depose Trump, but it’s a start. Remember: he said he heard about HRC’s private server when everyone else did — through the newspapers. He was also briefed on the dossier by Comey (and had to have known it was bought & paid for by Hillary) even though Comey testified in a congressional hearing that he only met with Obama “one on one” twice in three years: once, about law enforcement issues, and once to say goodbye. Finally, the FusionGPS dossier was a product owned by HRC — she would have had to authorize them to disseminate it to the FBI. In other words, she manufactured evidence against her opponent using the FBI as a resource and then used the FBI to execute the hit job on Trump. Are we in Zimbabwe? Venezuela? Same thing goes for the Don Jr./Veselnitskaya meeting. Why would FusionGPS (who represented HRC) be giving Don Jr. “dirt” on it’s own client, HRC? What a load of bologney they’re trying to feed us.

Did anyone see this pro-Trump commercial before the election? Apparently it aired on 11/6 and blanketed the battleground states on Facebook and other social media platforms, and maybe television. It’s powerful. I just ran across it yesterday. Towards the end are the words, “WE DON’T WANT TO BE MANIPULATED ANY MORE.” A message to the “Deep State” perhaps? Interesting.
