"And Roseanne, if you ever get in trouble, don't worry, I have the pardon power."

Well, what do you think he said?

I'm reading "Trump called Roseanne Barr after successful series premiere" (CNN) and "Trump’s Lawyer Raised Prospect of Pardons for Flynn and Manafort" (NYT).

UPDATE: From Roseanne:
“We just kinda had a private conversation, but we talked about a lot of things,” she said. “He was just happy for me. I’ve known him for a lot of years and he’s done a lot of nice things for me over the years, and it’s a friendly conversation about working, television, and ratings.”

Trump should pardon all of Mueller's defendants, who are not charged with anything related to the 2016 Campaign, except for the 13 Russian Trolls.

I was hearing on the radio yesterday the controversial news that some in the Trump administration had discussed the possibility of pardoning Flynn and Manafort.

I love how upset some people still get about things that Trump may have considered doing.

Anyway, I'm for letting Manafort take his chances, but the more I learn about Flynn's case the more I think he was treated unjustly, perhaps at McCabe's insistence (since Strzok didn't think Flynn had lied), and railroaded. Hey, General, we know someone did wrong here, so if you can't help us we're going to have to shift focus to your son. 'Course, if you take the plea, our work here is...done.

Of course I'm just speculating.

The left would love to go full Kim Jung Un.

It should be illegal to beat Hillary Clinton or any corruptocrat.

Wow, what's next? Declaring Russia and China competitors not enemies. Hmm, he's already done that. Goodbye DOD swamp leaches. We must fix our schools to match and better their family values. Before anything else.Pardons, who cares? Clinton didn't?

Well, what do you think [Trump] said?

Whatever it was, it was probably the worst thing any President ever said.

Pardoning Flynn would imply he was guilty. I think Flynn will be allowed to rescind his plea and the charges will be dropped for prosecutorial malfeasance.

It would be nice of Sally Yates was disbarred but that will gave to wait until the whole mess is unraveled.

I see no reason to consider pardoning them bad when other people lied to the FBI and nothing happened. Right now, until Abedin, Podesta and McCabe get charges, even though I wouldn't pardon Flynn/Manafort and think they should pay whatever legal penalty they owe--I can't deny it looks political they got charged while others didn't.

From the CNN article:

"In real life, Barr is also a vocal Trump supporter, though she lives on a macadamia nut farm in Hawaii and not in Illinois."

How dare she sympathize with Blue Collar America when she lives on a Macadamia Nut Farm?

Blue Collar Folk don't know nothing 'bout no Macadamia Nuts. Peanuts, sure. Maybe cashews if you want to be all fancy.

And Hawaii? There are no Blue Collar Folk in Hawaii. Sure, the people who have Time-Shares there are a little Low Rent, but it ain't Blue Collar like Chicago Blue Collar.

So she doesn't know what she is talking about.

And a Hypocrite.

I'm glad CNN pointed this out.

The Germans have a word for this.

At least Trump’s pardons aren’t for sale, considering Bill Clinton and Marc Rich.

Dave Ramsey likes to say that timeshares are the worst investment one can make. I disagree, but I see his point.

I kinda think that in terms of images this show panders to the coasties' image of deplorable Trump supporters - fat white older people. But it also shows what the other side looks like to deplorables.

In terms of likability it is uncoastie because it suggests that deplorables might be likable. In terms of situations it presents the economic difficulties that millennials everywhere are facing - no chance of getting a house, poor jobs in the service industry, no husbands for the women.

But it doesn't present situations that illustrate causes of this economic and cultural ruin - the sale of our manufacturing and trade to China and Mexico, the determination of the hard left to run this country on their terms or wreck it. There's no real religion. In terms of language the show is trying to model how deplorables should learn coastie talk and coastie attitudes.

It's good idea to show people living together, sisters reconciling. I wish for that myself.

This is a kind of Archie Bunker show. That show made Irish-Americans look like bigots; this show suggests that deplorables are looking backward all the time and have nothing positive in any program or values they support. Those younger people are going to teach in this show, not learn, even though the culture they will teach can't produce jobs or maintain a family.

Sorry, Roseanne.

I just don't think the writers and cast members other than Roseanne have sufficient imagination to think of anything funny about Democrats and their causes. To them such jokes are akin to mocking disabled children. Well, maybe for residuals and fat paychecks, they'll make the effort, but their heart will not be in it.

Sounds a bit like me except I'm a vocal Trump supporter living on an academia nut farm in Madison and not in Berkeley.

The left is declining rapidly. They have ended any hopes they had in the Midwest.

There is a lot of time to November but the NRA has a half million more members now. Facebook is losing influence daily. Google is next.

Obama was briefed daily on the Trump campaign by the FBI from August to November 2016. Going to be tough this summer watching all those leftists getting arrested.

the nuts on academia nut farms don't grow, and the farms don't make money. other than that, they are just like macadamia nut farms.

Rush's first hour monologue on the Roseanne show is good. It's not conservative, but pro-Trump. Using the Democrats that the Democrats abandoned.

Well, in a way, mocking Democrats is mocking disabled children. My favorite line in the show was when she told her sister something along the lines of "You want health care because you care about people and you can't do basic math".

I do think William is onto something, though, about the writers, if they are anti-Trump. Not many people find it easy to mock themselves and their beliefs- effective and funny self-deprecation is a genuine gift.

Roseanne is using class not the normal left/right arguments. Specifically on economic issues. She is a Trump support as she is an old fashioned Democrat. Supporting jobs for Americans.

She will not touch social issues. Or at least on a traditional basis. They now have a cross dressing nine year old grandson and the whole slant of the show is to normalize and except this extreme behavior. The only differing voice is Dan the token white male. The only male that appeared in the show. Of course he has to learn that is perfectly fine for a nine year old boy to wear a dress to school.

So Roseanne is only addressing the class issues. Fine as far as it goes. Certainly totally different from the ultra liberal pap that spews from Hollywood.

She will not be renewed regardless of how high her ratings might be.

Their daughter Becky is becoming a surrogate to have a child for a rich women for $50,000.

Dan is furious. He said "When the women in this family get knocked up...they have the child and we accept them and teach them how to be miserable like the rest of the family."

I was surprised that they took the tack that Becky was selling their grand child. That surprised me.

langford peel said...

Added liberal touches.

Their son DJ married a black woman and his young child lives with them as his wife is in the Army in Iraq. There was a famous episode in the old series where DJ refused to kiss a black girl. They had to school him as to horrible that was and it seems that he ended up marring her.

The two girls had husbands in the original series. But they are absent. One is supposedly dead and the other one moved to California and married a waitress from the Cheesecake Factory.

The acting is very uneven. John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf and Sara Gilbert are excellent but the rest of the cast is barely competent. They will not be able to sell their issues using the limited talents they have. At least in "All in the Family" had a collection of excellent actors. Even the Meathead was pretty good.

Just look at Sally Struthers! She can almost make you care about dying Ethiopians with flies on their eyes. Almost.

That's talent.

They talked about ratings?! This is my shocked face.

Trump likes to invoke ratings. I don't know if this is a Trump-thing or an actor/network hot button that he likes to push.
