"Elon Musk Wanted to Buy ‘The Onion,’ Now He’s Hiring Its Staffers for a Secret Project."

The Daily Beast reports.
“It’s pretty obvious that comedy is the next frontier after electric vehicles, space exploration, and brain-computer interfaces,” Musk said. “Don’t know how anyone’s not seeing this.”
See? He thinks he's a comedian.

He's also quoted as having said, last year, that he was paging through The Onion "in order to understand the essential truth of things." And "I think you can find [the truth] in The Onion and occasionally on Reddit."

Mad Magazine => National Lampoon

The Onion ain't bad, but not in the aforementioned big leagues of comedy.

And, Elon Musk is not funny. He is a geek, who made it big.

As much as I love Elon, and believe me I do...(if I was a woman I would want to have his children)

He has a few wacky ideas. For example, he is completely wrong about AGW/climate change. However, even when he is so completely wrong...he doesn't try to start a religion or cash in like Gore did... he simply changes the whole world. Again. He takes the $200 million he made from helping to create PayPal and throws it all on the table to fund Tesla and SpaceX. After he turns those two into multi-billions companies, he bails out his cousins and takes over their solar panel business and kicks ass there too.

How about making the Journal of Irreproducible Results great again? Huh?

Meanwhile, there's already the Babylon Bee.

Sounds like an idea for an Onion headline and story.

If true, he'll need plenty of humor when he's stranded on Mars.

Musk intends to buy NYTimes from Carlos Slim and staff it with better journalists.

Geniuses in one field are often fools in another. Musk and Hawking are alike in that.

The Onion is often closer to the truth than the straight press. Now, I wonder how much fun it would be to own one of the flamethrowers he's selling...
