Today in Wisconsin weapons.

"Man holding shard of glass to neck disarmed with bean bag, Monona police say."

Assault glass must be confiscated. No one needs military grade broken glass. I suggest glass be replaced with soft plastic.

Bean bags are fine unless they are used on innocent black teens. Then confiscate them too.

In all seriousness, a school in Pennsylvania has placed buckets of rocks in all classrooms so the children will have a fighting chance. (Next comes the bows and arrows.)

My wife thought I made that up. But Politically correct rocks really do exist. They are smooth river rocks.

Politics ain't bean bag.

This is an example of a Good Man With a Beanbag.

Yeah, I had that on my list of possible bloggables yesterday.

Life is so damn fragile. I remember my bridge (the card game) teacher telling me that she ended up in the hospital after a paper cut. She got blood poisoning that is usually referred to sepsis these days. I would not have so constructed the world, so there is no God.

Buckets of rock doesn't sound like such a bad idea. Imagine an assailant facing a hail of rock. The history of stoning people to death goes back a long way. Adultery was brutally punished in the bad old days. In Spanish, they have two verbs for stoning a person (to death): lapidar (una lapida is a tombstone), and apedrear (una piedra is a stone/ una pedrada is a blow with a stone). I think "apedrear" is the more common of the two. Stoning is also called "lapidation" in fancy English.

Let him who is without sin cast the first stone.

Okay, so somebody is 15 feet away pointing a firearm at you. You're going to go over to a bucket, find a suitable rock, turn back to the person about to shoot you, and prepare to throw it?

Nobody who devised that plan could ever be accused of serious thinking.

Bilwick said...

There is no reason for bean bags to be in civilian hands. If the thrower's bean bag wasn't registered, I hope he ends up doing hard time.

Hence the expression "Dumb as a bucket of rocks"

Those had better not be native american rocks, otherwise it's geological appropriation and strictly forbidden!

And if any European abrasion has resulted in altering the pristine nature of the original rock someone will need to cough up some reparations.

That is not the scenario.
The pupils hear or is told over the PA system there is a shooter in the hallway and arm themselves with the rocks. He/she opens the door and everybody pelts him/her. That should be quite disorienting to a teenager, even one armed with a magic AR-15 rifle, and they pile in and bring him/her down.

When shards of glass are outlawed, only outlaws will have shards of glass.

BTW about that bucket of rocks. Article said they were "river rocks." Not rocks with sharp edges or points. School should issue five rocks to each student to carry around in backpack at all times. Transparent backpack, of course.

tcrosse said...

About those rocks: what if you throw like a girl ?

I was just going to say, this isn't so bad; leftists have many ideas that are dumber than a bucket of rocks.

Hagar said...

However, what is much more likely these days is that there will be a classroom scuffle and somebody will grab a rock to bash another pupil's - or the teacher's - head in, and the school system will be sued for a gadzillion dollars for having armed the students with potentially lethal weapons.

Sorry, that comment gives me license. Well....no, it doesn't, but I'm running with it.

If the father of the Orlando Pulse nightclub shooter is an FBI informant, then what does that say about Stephen Paddock in Las Vegas. Here's a guy that spent his day spanking-his-monkey in front of a poker video game, but seemed to have sufficient resources for not one, but two airplanes......and far more firearms than I have.

Try blogging that!!

Why yes, my hat is made out of tin foil! How did you know??

Not that it has anything to do with the subject at hand, but well, yes, sometimes the IDF do fire back at them and consider it justified at that.

Danno said...

Why don't the local police load large cheese curds into their bean bag shooter? They can be so fresh they squeak when shot.

It's the other way around. The terrorists start throwing the rocks first, and then the Israelis respond...first with tear gas and non-lethal responses, but sometimes bullets also.

traditionalguy said...

Best I can figure, the plan is to limit magazines to 10 cartridges, and then when the first 10 are dead the survivors will all throw the rocks before he reloads. It's a timing issue. If only Samuel Colt could invent a revolver. That was the timing issue for defense of Texas. against the Comanche Empire raids. We must have been time machined way back. The baseball pitchers with rocks will be in demand again.

The question is whether kids throwing rocks are an adequate defense against gunfire. I'm guessing not.

Yes, BumbleBee is correct, the school figured out that they were more vulnerable after the rock thingy, so they announced that they were going with armed guards. I'll look for a link.
